Core vs. Boutiques by Client Industry in Strategy Consulting
Just wanted to understand which firms(Large & Boutiques) are called for strategy by the CXO's of different client industries( I know MBB rules everywhere, but what about the rest)

keep in mind that these days it's not just industry that drives the conversations. in many cases it's the function the client is interested in, ie sales force, operations, etc. often you'll see teams staffed with both functional and industry experience to cover both bases.

It's simple. Senior clients know their industry. A high tech guy doesn't need anyone to tell him more about his subject matter, but he may think he's got issues with his sales force. Who does he want coming in the door? Nowadays it seems more likely that he'll want consultants who have proven sales force transformation experience across industries. In many engagements, clients are looking to broaden their thinking, not to be told about a space they already know.
