Disclosing Documented Medical Illness in Cover Letter?

I'm applying to a few MM investment banks this week with close relations to my top 20 college. I'm a bit hesitant to disclose that I underwent a medical illness that severely hindered me academically last year (documented with college, had a few prescription changes, etc). I'm still dealing with my condition but it has significantly gotten better my sophomore year and my GPA has increased significantly, however it isn't competitive enough for most banks >3.0. Would noting it in my cover letter pose as a red flag? Disregarding my previous year and the illness, I feel as though I'd be fairly competitive.

Any insight would be great.

thanks

Definitely don't do that... I'm not sure if there's a uniform way of doing it but I'd list a second GPA on my resume that excludes the time you were basically away from school with an illness and maybe put a star next to it or something and footnote that it excludes the illness period. I wouldn't get any more detailed than saying it was a documented illness or however schools do that. The stigma on mental illness still very much exists, so I wouldn't push it if I didn't have to.
