Duff & Phelps Valuation Analyst vs Middle Office @ BB
MO work consists of doing the books daily for the BB's PE/RE funds. I've heard/read the skills gained as a Valuation Analyst at D&P can be taken to IB (where I ultimately want to end up.)
So, which position gives me the best chance of making it to IB or a top 10 MBA, D&P or MO at BB?
Also, considering my background (3.6 non-target) if neither of those is an option, which would be the better career?
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance
Valuation analyst. You'll get better skills that can be transferred to IB.
100% go with D&P.. good skills, and much better exit ops (i know someone from d&p who ended up at a top PE fund)
No you don't.

Have agree with that, i recomend Duff, I know a couple of guys that worked there, their work was solid. Heck duff is a good shop period, but it was brutal over there, they thin the herd frequent, and be prepared for 70 hr weeks (not 9-5 job).
1) Mia Uranus is a fortune cookie bot
2) Go with D&P. You will learn some great modeling skills and have transferable experience. I know 2 D&P guys who did their time and went buy side. And yes, I do know these people.
MIddle office isn't FO and it isn't going to prepare you for anything other then MO at another bank.
"that's AnthonyD daddy, he hilaaarious"
this one cracked me up
always take front office over middle office- you want to be part of the revenue generating group of whichever company you work for, not the support group. this is very important for B-School apps as well.
