If you attend an evening/part-time MBA program, will it say so on the transcript? Or does it show up identically? I'm trying to determine if there is any difference on paper between a part-time and full-time MBA.

Transcript won't be any
Transcript won't be any different. Degree is the same.
employers can tell though
employers can tell though because your employment dates will run concurrent with your school attendance dates on your resume....if that matters to you at all.
Is PT viewed as less
Is PT viewed as less prestigious by employers?

Well, you can arrive at your
Well, you can arrive at your own conclusions. Look at the difference in acceptance rate at the decent schools that have both types of programs. There is really no comparison when it comes to the vast amount of value-added that you get from pursuing a FT MBA v. PT. Recruiting, network, access to resources; the whole experience is different. FT MBA is all about immersion in what is a real transformational experience v. PT where it's just something that you're doing on the side. Employers place a premium on that difference.

Haha, good question.

prestige has very little to
prestige has very little to do with it.
the real, huge difference between full-time MBA and part-time MBA is for RECRUITING. full time mba's compete for jobs that are specifically created for full time MBA students. FT MBAs will spend hours/days each week pursuing these opportunities, and will visit the firms many times throughout the recruiting season. firms come to campus to meet the students. Goldman Sachs is not going to come to campus to visit part time mbas.
PT people will have very limited opportunities to be a career changer, because that's just not how recruiting works. the academics will be the same, and the diploma won't be different (usually). The huge difference is recruiting. Part Timers don't qualify for the "Graduate Recruiting" jobs that are the bread and butter of bschool.
You won't land a first year associate role with a part time MBA. If you're looking to advance in your current career, a PT MBA is a great way to go.
Thanks for the info. Yeah, I
Thanks for the info. Yeah, I was basically just wondering what one does, if they have a job they really like and can move up the ladder with an MBA within the same firm? Or, if somebody doesn't want to leave there current job, but they want to get an MBA because they think it could be useful 5-10 years down the road (not for switching careers, but rather to rise within the same industry or firm)?

Some of the above is not true. I'm a PT-MBA at a top 3 school (by FT rankings) and we are allowed to participate in OCR. In fact, it's how I got my banking spot.
Similar question: Will
Similar question: Will accelerated MBA programs also show up the same on a transcript?

I agree. What is stopping a part time MBA student from attending all the same recruiting events...nothing. I assume that if you network, you will still land a spot from a top school. As a career changer you would be at a disadvantage but I do not think that holds if you have prior IB or consulting experience.
What if I went to a PT MBA with prior IB analyst experience? You could work or intern while in school to pay back the debt. Hell, you could intern at a PE firm during the day and do school at night. Or What if you worked while in a PT MBA program, but left it off your resume so that it appeared as if you went to the FT program?
You would only have to disclose, I am assuming, if you were asked and during background checks. Tell me if I am wrong? If you dont have the stats to attend a top FT program, it makes sense to go to a top PT program in lieu of a shitty FT MBA.
i know at stern and some
i know at stern and some other places like chicagos part time they actually make you show your ID before going into the events to show that you are
basically part time you get shafted and dont get the same recruiting ops aka THE REASON YOU WENT BACK FOR B SCHOOL at a majority of the schools. i know whartons exec MBA allows you to do OCR after your first year
