Goldman Sachs Healthcare

Meeting with a couple of guys from Goldman's Healthcare group in a couple of weeks. Interested in any additional info about the group. Top guys? Recent deals? Culture? NY or SF? Thanks in advance

I know that they've done really well in recruiting this year. Also, they're trying a new policy of not being in the office from 9PM on Fridays til 9AM on Sundays apparently. I know a few people in the group, and though it's a small sample size, they're all great and seem happy with the group.

One of the stronger healthcare groups on the street. Rep for easy hours and laid-back culture, but when you're there, they expect you to fully "show up" at all times. Did fairly well in recruiting, both with first-years ignoring the policy and second-years who didn't get what they wanted the first time around. You want to be in NY. Interning on the West Coast would get you better summer pay (this has been discussed ad nauseum, labor-friendly CA labor laws mean you get paid very well for the hours worked. That's a short-sighted decision to make though; the main group here in New York gets a decent amount of attention from headhunters, although they play a definite second fiddle to the usual suspects (TMT, FIG).

I am permanently behind on PMs, it's not personal.

spearheading the movement to have people out of the office fridays at 9pm through sunday at 9am or 10am which has been met with great success. also have a maximum number of pages of ~40 or something for pitchbooks which has apparently sucked for analysts/associates because you end up creating an 80+ page deck then just cutting pages, but it's a good effort.

has seen an unusually high amount of turnover at the associate level over the last year but overall heard its a very fun group, people seem generally very satisfied with their experience.

What are the placements they got?

2 going to Carlyle, 2 to TPG. I'm sure there are other impressive placements, but I only paid attention to megafund placement (sorry).

Well, I have friends on the team (although they are analysts)... and from what I understand my friend in HC really enjoyed it and also had a great exit to buy-side for analysts who were on the team prior to CR and HC combining. Culture seems better than TMT and FIG from their perspective but again this is all relative.

I am sure some things have changed after the teams combined!
