How does this kind of discrepancy look on résumé?

Personally I wouldn't even list your major GPA's, given the disparity between the two. Just list your cumulative, it's plenty high enough
just put your cumulative gpa on your resume. and round it to 3.8 lol. it does not sound like a big deal at all

[quote=Invariance]Thanks guys, that's one option.
I kind of feel it makes my résumé look like that of a nerd math freak, who couldn't handle the more realistic world of economics...
Maybe you are? It may sound wierd, but why not focus on a career that speaks to your strengths; and that you would likely enjoy more (using maths or science) rather than trying to pull the wool over admissions office's eyes? Your difficulty with econ at school may mean you wont enjoy this approach in your career either... There might be a real reason; Im asking genuinely - excuse me if that sounded rude, there was no other way to say it.

econ is directly applicable to economic consulting... solving lagrangians or memorising IS-LM is barely relevant to any are of finance.
in general, it's a shitty subject and something of a scandal that so many earnest shitheads major in it as undergrads. instead they should either do applied maths (if they're smart) of finance (best fit for most econ shitheads)
Just post a regular, cumulative GPA. That's what I do on mine (although, I only have one major). But even if I am doing a double major, I would still only list one number.
I don't know why but I'm extremely upset that you put the accents over the e's in resume.
That always annoyed me because I could never remember the character code. Now it just annoys me.
Only list cumulative. And if I saw your resume, I'd assume: 1) you don't live at all 2) you spent your time getting a 4.0 in math and thus econ slipped 3) there is no reason you'd have to list both major GPAs, the only reason to do that would be if your cumulative blew balls
In an actual response to the thread, I don't know why you're worried. Your cumulative GPA is kickass and will get you past screens, no problem, why split it out into your majors and give the resume readers an excuse to eliminate you?
just do cumulative 3.8 and move on, enjoy your senior year

I lol'd
laughing my ass off right now at chicand, but I understand what you're saying even if it does kinda annoy me
