Investment Banks
Hi guys,
I'm very interested in IB but am not very familiar with the actual body of an IB. Could somebody actually explain the major divisions in most BB IBs? I know some of them (M&A, S&T) but don't really know what the major divisions of a bank are.
Thanks monkeys

hahaha, thankd
Split into two sections, products and markets. Products = IBD, (Lev Fin, M&A, ECM, DCM etc) and markets (sales and trading).
How exactly can one be very interested in investment banking if they clearly do not know what it is?
money
?? I know what alot of the different functions are but I wasn't aware of the exact divisions. I know what their functions are, just not sure which divisions carried out which etc.
.
M&A is not a division. M&A is a product group within the Investment Banking Division, which includes product groups like Lev Fin and M&A, industry coverage groups like TMT, etc and S&T. Investment banks also typically have Asset Managment arms, PWM arms, and provide a multitude of services to clients. Roles vary vastly between divisions, and between groups in a certain division.
Investment Banking, Sales, Trading, Research, Asset Management, --> Front Office
Credit Risk, Market Risk --> Middle Office
Finance, Marketing, HR, Operations, Compliance, Legal --> Back Office
