Lets start from the beginning..
What skills do you need to be an eligible candidate for an investment banking position? List them below!
I'm particularly interested on how much finance knowledge you need? Keeping up with markets and things like that...
On the sixth day, Patrick made the search feature.
Build a strong personal network of people in various positions (from analyst to senior bankers) and understand basic technicals (DCF, accounting, comps, etc.). If you want to target an industry coverage group, understand the major drivers of some of the sub-sectors/verticals in that industry.
I wouldn't say it's necessary to keep up with the markets since the job is transaction based (and I myself was never asked a market related question in my interviews).
Hope this helps!
Thanks that was helpful!
I'd say that if you can't figure out how to use the search function on the internet, you probably aren't cut out for IB. this question has been asked upwards of a thousand times.
