Include analyst class ranking/review on resume when looking to jump banks?
If one was looking to move to another bank after their first year, would it look stupid to put your review/ranking on the resume?
I.e. if you have been ranked in the top bucket across all categories, would it be worth your time to put it as a bullet? It is something that will come up in the interview anyway...
That seems like something you would definitely want to put.
good question...
yes it will, your bonus number/ranking matter.
How can the interviewers be sure that you are telling the truth? I don't figure bnaks make analysts' bonus numbers and rankings available to these firms..
They'll call your references. Or at least that is what happened to me.
But your references won't disclose your bonus - firstly because they do not possess such an information. No one from within your company will disclose it either: bonuses are confidential. Maybe in USA it's different, though - that's legal issues.
References can say whether you're in the top, middle, or bottom buckets though
How is it possible? Your references might be people whom you worked with previously, in the past, but not currently. it is not a wise move to use a current employee in your company as your reference: very often, when seeking for another job, one doesn't want his employer to know about it.
You shouldn't lie everyone knows someone at another bank.
unless you come recommended from someone within the firm, they'll ask for references. No one wants to hire the worst analyst from another bank.
Ranked near top of analyst class, include on resume? (Originally Posted: 02/21/2007)

wrong forum. Can a mod delete this?
Since when do banks rank their analysts? I have never heard about that? And HOW would you rank - accoridng to how beautiful their pitchbooks look??
Definitely included if it's good.
How do you know what has a guy next to you got? He won't tell
LOL!
Related question - if you get a full-time offer after a summer but are applying to other banks instead, is it recommended to put down on your resume that you received an offer?
"top bucket" on resume (Originally Posted: 08/17/2009)
Do people ever list where they were ranked in their analyst class on their resume? I assume not, but wasn't sure.
Thanks.
Technically you could list it on your resume, but I don't think it is necessary, and I think you are better off focusing on your experiences and accomplishments. If, however, you've got the room on your resume and how many analysts got top bucket and it was only like 4 or 5 out of a class of 80 or something, then you can list it on your resume in that regard. I don't think it's necessary, but if there is nothing else that you want to put on your resume and you've got space, I don't think it will hurt at all either.
