Wearable tech for the intern
I'm going into a summer analyst stint very soon and have recently been interested in wearable technology (jawbone up, fitbit flex, nike fuelband) as a way to track activity. I'm especially interest in the features that track sleep patterns and wake you up at optimal points, which sound pretty great as someone who hates the sound of their alarm in the morning. Before I go ahead and purchase anything, I wanted to get your thoughts on how workplace appropriate one of these might be for an intern at an investment bank. Any feedback is appreciated.
Google Glass every day. Thank me later.

On the topic of wearable tech, it's incredibly inaccurate in its current state. And do you ever see anybody who looks like they take their bodies seriously in that shit? I'm all for optimization and shit, but there is no fucking way that wrist band knows how many calories my body burned. You shouldn't really care either. Counting calories is not necessary unless you're cutting body fat down to ridiculous levels.
The Fuelband is dead so I'd immediately eliminate that one from your list. The Jawbone Up is nice but honestly I'm not really a big enough fan of any of the current offerings on the market to actually go ahead and buy one. The Nymi looks really promising (assuming it every ends up working as advertised) but it's enormous and the release date has been pushed to the fall. As an intern, I'd spend my money on other things if I were you.
Appreciate the heads up on the fuelband. I'm most interested in the UP24 because of the REM alarm feature at this point (though the nymi does look pretty cool), but I want to see if anyone would find it tacky on an intern. In my last internship I only ever saw an MD walking around with one.
I'm telling you, wait for the Nabu: http://www.razerzone.com/nabu
It's like fitness band but has all the functionalities of a smartwatch....

Does anyone wear a smartwatch? If so, which one? How do you like it, what reactions have you gotten from it?
