So, Who Wears Galoshes?
Now that it is impossible to set foot in Manhattan without encountering the mysterious slush puddle of death, snowbanks, or a combination thereof, what is everyone's preferred method of protecting one's shoes? The way I see it there are no real good options:
- Boots with a suit/slacks, change into shoes at the office
- Galoshes/shoe condom over your shoes
- ???
Curious what trends you guys are seeing in your offices.
I think you would be hard pressed to find anyone under the age of 50 wearing galoshes, though I'm told they are quite effective. You can get black ones that aren't too terrible looking but I think a lot of loafers don't fit well with them.
You definitely need the bean boots/sorels -> shoes at the office option in this kind of weather. The galoshes won't manage through those 1/2 foot deep slush puddles (of death).
Boots are the way to go, those things don't stand a chance.
Jesus, you must be a broke naive analyst. Just hire someone to carry you on his back.
LOL
I thought most analysts just got a chopper to the top of their building?
Shrimp boots.
Nuff said.
I wear Jeans, Tims and whatever else the rest of the ensemble I need to wear is. I leave my dress shoes at the office and then change when I get there. No one gives me a second glance in the mornings because they understand that it's all about the weather.
i just wear my J&Ms and strategically plan each step from sub to office. That said, next pair of galoshes I stumble across, I'm buying.
Everyone here talks about loafers, but I was under the impression they are too causal--I always thought the best business shoes are black lace-up oxfords. I have the following and love how comfortable they are right out of the box:
