Stifel CEO Pay

Completey under the radar, but this guy got nearly $7mm this year (recently announced): http://www.stltoday.com/business/columns/david-nicklaus/Stifel-ceo-s-bonus-doubles-as-pay-nears-million/article_a715092d-ef2e-5279-acdf-b936010b9bc1.html

To give this guy credit, he got paid more than MS CEO i think for MS 2012 fiscal year ($6mm). Question is, would you guys take a pay cut to work for a more "prestigious firm"?

Or are we all just pedigree whores that would rather be a CEO of MS/GS/BX over a MM firm just for the title. Isnt it all about cash flow at the end of the day?

The only people who care about prestige are college kids. If BX offers me $5 million and Stifel offers me $7 million, why the hell would I take BX over Stifel?

my point exactly...or if you're starting out your career- prestige is very important in the sense that it can help you meet more powerful ppl in finance, get better access to headhunters, ability to leverage that firm name to a buy-side opportunity etc.

but ya, on the more senior levels, id agree...cash is king.

Not sure what your point is...this guy is the CEO of a 5,000+ person financial institution. Plenty of far less noteworthy people in finance make $7M under the radar. This guy has reached the pinnacle of his organization...the Head Merchant at Kohl's making $7M all in is a lot more surprising to me (for example).

Jesus... get your facts right. Schwartzman cleared 230MM+ in a terrible market (2011).

So you're asking if I'd take a 223MM pay cut to work at a shitty (relative) firm?

you clearly misinterpreted my point. but if it makes you feel so good about yourself to anonymously attempt to shit on another anonymous person over the internet to receive fake "bananas", then you have other issues to worry about LOL.

The fact that it's anonymous makes it unbiased. I could give a shit if I get SB/MS... I have more MS than you have banana points.

The only reason you and I have an (8) SB/MS differential on this thread is because the general consensus what that you're an idiot, and I just happened to point it out.
