Wardrobe Troubles only a Consultant could have

I've been interviewing with a few PE firms, and found one that seemed like a good fit, had a round of interviews on Friday. They say "we'll tell you next steps next week."

I travel Monday - Thursday, and am thus packed to go Sunday night. Client is business casual, and without thinking, that's what I always pack. My suit would just stay in my bag and get wrinkled.

Until today. Basically, the firm wants me to swing by its office, which is only an hour from my client, for final interviews on Thursday.

Do I:
A) Run to the mall and buy a whole suit and tie
B) Try to have my roommate overnight my suit and tie
C) Try to postpone the interview
D) Buy a nicer shirt and tie

Also, do I get the headhunter involved? Damn I feel like an idiot.

Unless an off the rack suit fits you perfectly, won't it look kind of shitty if it's not tailored? Personally, I'd go with B, but these types of situations tend to go poorly for me.

For the cost of overnighting, you might as well buy a new suit. Assuming you're in a major city, it's not difficult to get a decent suit, have the store make any necessary alterations, and have it ready by the interviews.

Otherwise, if you are a real cheapskate, you can always buy a suit, hide the tags and keep the receipt, and return it the next week.

Don't get the head hunter involved or let the company you are interviewing with know. If they are picky, your situation could be seen as a failure to plan or inability to improvise sort of thing. I'd have your roommate overnight your suit and I would also buy a suit. Play it safe. I don't think you would be able to buy / tailor a suit in time for your interview though. Good luck and let us know how it goes.

I answered my own question and bought a suit...very glad I am not in podunk, WV right now.

I did reach out to the HH, who was on vacation...I'm hoping she a) doesn't read her email until after the end of the week or b) sees my 2nd "everything's ok, nevermind" email and just deletes them both. [ edit: she responded, and basically said, i'd be on the fence - what did you decide? i think that the way their comp structure is, they have little incentive to make your life difficult over something like this once you're moving along in the process, but that's my optimistic view of the world speaking]

My roommate is a great guy and would totally do it, but between the USPS' general failings (ever since they shredded a signed Kenny Lofton card when I was ten, I've hated those fucks) and my Bad Luck Brian ways...figured if I bought a suit, at least I'd have a suit.

But, I guess with respect to taking shit for not having a well-tailored suit...Off the rack is generally okay on me, and if they were bent up enough about the fit of my suit to not give me an offer, given the situation, I probably wouldn't have fit in as well as I thought there anyway.

Will definitely keep you guys posted. And since I was going to buy a suit this weekend anyway, all I really did was save myself a bit of time. Efficiency, indeed!
