Occupy Info Sessions

To protest outside an information session is one thing, but to collectively stand up and interrupt a couple alumni talking about IBD career paths is another.

I know everyone not at Princeton is thinking along the lines of- “hopefully they annoy recruiters to the point of borderline insanity, maybe then BBs will show up at my non-target.” Fact of the matter is: it’s not going to happen.

So while these students think they are making a stand by chanting for over 3 minutes, I just hope they figure out that no one besides dealbook.com cares.

The most entertaining part of watching the taped interruptions is the distinct, apathetic look on the recruiters’ faces. They have clearly perfected the “oh, not again,” roll-eyes-to-back-of-head look.

Were any monkeys caught on film slouching in your seat?

there is a time and place for protest... this was not it.

princeton should take action and suspend/expel anyone interupting information sessions. if their message is so important, let them deal with the consequences.

I was going to post this but don't know how to imbed videos on WSO.

Yeah, this was absurd. And listen to the end of the guy's rant. He's talking about how we at Princeton represent the 99% and are opposed to exclusivity and people getting jobs as a result of connections or something along this lines. I was thinking, "umm are these Princeton University students or University of Idaho students?"

the administration at Princeton needs to crack down on students interupting career center events. if this becomes a trend and recruiters are constatnly harassed and interupted, then Princeton runs the serious risk of losing some recruiting. plenty of students at Harvard, Yale, Columbia, Northwestern, Chicago, Dartmouth, Penn, Cornell and other elite schools in the region that can make up for the lost headcount coming from Princeton.

A very similar incident happened recently at my alma mater.

Sickened me. If I was still in school and at the session I woulda whooped ass and beat some mo fuckas up for that. So rude. Not the right place or time to express their opinion.

Especially since my school is non-target, it really hurt our reputation and the firm will no longer be recruiting from our school. That is messed up since I have more faith in the ethics and morals of my classmates than the people currently running the Street.

If that would have happened at my school, my first reaction would be to just blow the fuck up and tell those people what they're doing (wasting everybody's god damn valuable time), but I think the extent of my anger would actually freak out the people there recruiting... so I really don't know what I would do in that situation haha

fuck that... inconsiderate pricks

This is awesome.

I'm glad the students had the balls to express their views like this. If everyone had the same attitude as the chimps above me we wouldn't have the civil rights we do today because everyone would have been too busy sucking up to the establishment.

Even as a wallstreet/ finance guy who disagrees with a lot of the messaging and tactics behind the recent protest movement I have mad respect for these kids.

Anyone that suggested they should be suspended is a complete tool. They are exercising their right to dissent, and we need more of these people at our elite institutions to counter the corporatist Wall Street types

It's their right to go into a private school's information session and disrupt it (regardless of whether they're students or not)? Whoa... God Bless Amurrriiikka!

There's a time and a place, that wasn't it. It's also probably the least effective place to do it too haha.
