Question to current/past MBB analysts/consultants level (1-3 years)

Hi - this is a question only current or past MBB employees are eligible to answer (so if you have never worked there in person, or only heard 1 or 2 of your friends talking about it, please don't contribute to this topic because your insight is not helpful, with all due respect).

Anyways, I was hoping analysts/associates/consultants with 1-3 years of experiences at MBB can speak of their "strategy experience". I know perceptions are MBB do strategy works (which are true, they do strategy work, but not at the analyst level), but i know for fact that say McKinsey competes for technology implementation projects, and I think it is actually a valid trend that pure Strategy Consulting just can't survive nowadays without the bigger contract (in the $10M+ range for implementation work). The recent acquisition of Monitor Group by Deloitte Consulting speaks to this argument, to some extent of course.

So my question to current/former MBB analysts is - what do you really do at your level? I'm guessing your project might be strategy based, but as an analyst, you won't be doing much "strategy" because let's be honest, 22/23 year olds don't know anything about the company or business, right? You are best supporting the senior guys with ad-hoc ppd deck or some excel work. And in the process, you learn some stuff about the company/industry. Your real project is very very different from the case interview. And what you do at your level really involves around random/ad-hoc stuff with an occasional cool excel modeling assignment (similar to IB analysts). But really, you spend most of your time scheduling meetings/formatting power-point decks. Is this a valid statement?

I'm not here to criticize anything, just really curious about what the lower-level guys at MBB really do, and how analyst's work at MBB is different from say analysts at other full-service consulting firm like Deloitte/ATK/Booz/ etc. I don't think there's a fundamental difference, but i can be wrong. And hence this post to try to gain some insights :)
