All in all, I was surprised by a lot of the winners in the TV show categories but most of the movie selections were spot-on with some being a toss-up between 2 possible winners (Best actor..)

The Liberace movie was just spooky. My mom was a huge fan so he was a fixture on our TV while I was growing up. For about the first five minutes of the movie it was Michael Douglas playing Liberace, after that he became Liberace. I can't remember seeing a more complete transformation any time recently (but then I didn't see Daniel Day Lewis in Lincoln). It was a pretty masterful acting job.

I'm a big fan of Michael Douglas' work but never got around to seeing this. After all the awards and reading your post I might have to check it out.

Frank Sinatra - "Alcohol may be man's worst enemy, but the bible says love your enemy."

Where is Margot Robbie's award for hottest 23 year old ever?

Might have to see the Wolf again just for her

I was pleasantly surprised that things fell like they did. Watched 12 years a slave last night and wow, so god. HER surprised me so much. I think at around 16 minutes in I just fell in love with the movie. Great concept and perfect execution.

Little surprised Rush wasn't better represented. That movie was great. I suppose this was a great year though.

To be honest I'm a little surprised to hear you say that given the somewhat sentimental nature of the film but also pleased to hear it. Definitely agree.

Xepa:

Her...wow. Samantha is a mirror into all relationships. It was enrapturing in such a unique, crazy, weird, and touching way that made you think deeply about humanity in the modern society.

Well put.

I wasn't surprised or disappointed by most of the film winners.

But on the television side, Big Bang Theory should absolutely have won Best Comedy (even though the latest season as a whole is not quite the level of some prior seasons)

And Best Drama should have gone to Masters of Sex (greatest drama since Mad Men, of which it shares many qualities)...the last five minutes of the season alone were very moving. Or possibly The Blacklist or Elementary which weren't even nominated.
