Would suprise me when they have more than 100 employees. Its just a holding company and they do not hire on colleges. They hire directly from other companies.

Interesting question: Does Warren Buffett offer scholarships ?

2 paths:

1) Via one of their subsidiary companies: Net Jets, BNI, Geico, etc.

2) Become a super-star at value investing

WalkerrWell it's prob Todd Combs following buffet up, a hf-manager.

Todd isn't going to become the operational executive of Berkshire. The investment pot will get split up under a multi-manager arrangement.

The COO spot will go to one of the operating company CEOs.

Berkshire Hathaway is basically a VERY small team of investment professionals including Buffett, Munger, Combs, etc. Corp Dev refers to internal m&a for companies, not multi-billion dollar investment transactions, which is the level of investment Berkshire is responsible for.

There are pretty good opportunities at Berkshire portfolio companies. For example, you could always work in corp dev at Geico or at MidAmerican Energy, which are both Berkshire companies. This is basically like working at any large company's corp dev.

But getting to work in corp dev at Berkshire directly is impossible since it does not exist, and getting to be an investment professional at Berkshire is effectively impossible since there are so few positions.

BH has like 20 employees. They don't have a corpdev department AFAIK, I'm pretty sure they have guys that make calls and that's it.

If you're talking about the Oracle of Omaha's firm, they have no analyst/associate/anything like that of a pe or hedge fund situation.

He's got some accountants, a bond trader, a few secretaries and a handful of very senior financial people - but all the investing is done by him essentially, and now his new protege Todd Combs.

They do hire people on the basis of their talent and their need for it -- if you read about Todd Combs background, it will totally begin to make sense whey they hired a guy like him and will continue to do so as Mr. Buffett gets older
