Cold Email Scenario, Help a Monkey Out.

Good Morning Monkeys,

Just blasted my weekly round-up of cold emails, cold calls, and staying in touch with my human capital asset base. I've encountered a problem and want your inputs on this: Long story short, one HF PM circled back to me and was direct, told me their fund wanted someone with more experience and told me to check out firm x,y, and z. At this point, I'm thinking that I ask for referrals to these firms if he has any. Do you think that's jumping the gun? Anybody have experience with this scenario?

Just gotta say... that you in that picture? If so, youre a handsome guy.

Nothing of value to add here btw.

Thanks, you're very helpful. And no that is not me, but I'm 100x more ridiculously good looking in real life.

Baby you're the perfect shape, baby you're the perfect weight. Treat me like my birthday, I want it this way and I want it that way. It makes a man feel good baby.

A. If you are better looking - that's not saying much.

B. I would recommend thanking them for their time and responding first.

This could go one of two ways.

-You could have nothing to lose and you can ask them politely for contacts. They could just not say anything.

-If you ask, they could assume your lazy and blackball you to other funds.

I'm guessing its scenario 1 because otherwise they would not have responded to your emails. Just ask.

BeerSaturnsCan't see why you can't cold call those firms and say that this PM recommended you to contact them

No guarantee that whoever picking up on the other line will know who the PM is. I've done this before and gotten blank responses.

Too much swag.

Just tell him thanks and ask who he thinks you should start with at the firms he mentioned. I use this all the time (not looking for a job right now, but for other stuff) and it works a high percentage of the time.
