Career Resources
Poached some talent from CS back in the Quattrone days. Currently pretty solid I guess. Not the best tech group out there, but certainly not the worst either.
The team was a group based around Tor Braham, who was an M&A guy under George, rather than Frank. He's an old lawyer, and has some decent relationships up and down the Valley. It's performed decently well by DB standards under his stewardship, after an aborted attempt to rebuild the practice by lifting out Bob Thornton's tech M&A team from Lehman (which was overall an unmitigated disaster, in my opinion).
That lift-out was itself a result of Karl Will's departure to head Tech M&A at Merrill Lynch, although he's now at JPM, I believe. Merrill hired him when Mark Shafir took most of the ML team to Weisel, although he and his team have now resurfaced at Lehman.
Did Thornton and his team mainly work in semiconductors? A headhunter tried hard to poach me to this group and mentioned that the "entire semiconductor team from Lehman had just joined."
one of my best friends works for this group
I'm pretty sure they did hire most of Lehman's semi team
this group does a lot of deals, however, it's a total sweatshot. Plus, they are terrible at placing analysts in top PE firms afterwards... unlike UBS SF
GhengisKhan, How is Lehman's team now, both Tech industry and Tech M&A? Have they done well since the semi team left?
or, does anybody else know anything about the LEH team now?
From an M&A perspective, my personal view is that the change has been a clear upgrade for Lehman. Mark Shafir is one of the best bankers I can think of, and his relationships in tech land are first-rate. I've heard it said that he seems to play golf with every CEO in the Valley.
can anyone comment on the current status of db's tech group?
Going to be working there

Hey everyone,
I was wondering if anyone knows what deals DB SF has done recently. I was trying to search online but couldn't find anything after 15 minutes so I thought it might be good to ask here.
Thanks
