Doing 100+ Comps in a Few Days
Can you do 100+ quick and dirty comps within a few days if you pull the data straight from Reuters? This wouldn't be to send out to clients - more to get a rough idea of a few industry spaces.

If you have FactSet or CapIQ, you can get those done in one day.
How accurate or inaccurate would this be?
You're probably okay to use either if you're just trying to get a rough cut of things and aren't too worried about one time charges, etc. flowing through the comps. Factset data is only as good as the database you're using. CapIQ is okay, but some of their adjustments can be iffy and they can miss stuff.
You can also try Bloomberg.
On a side note, SNL is hands down the best database to use for financials...if only they covered more industries.
capiq is fairly accurate. you can spot check it to verify that they calculate the stuff the same as you.
plus, it saves so much time. set up the spreadsheet, and enter the tickers.
done in a matter of hours.
but then again, be forewarned, i'm just a college student.
please, i can do 100+ detailed comps from scratch in my sleep. and triple check the numbers.
i just assign it to the younger analysts who really want "modeling experience"
We're about to enter a Great Depression. Don't you want a president who's already dressed for it?
My bank doesn't let us use CapIQ to pull data for comps and we have to do everything manually from public filings. It's a capital offense to get caught doing comps the "lazy" way. 100+ comps in a day or two would cause me some serious brain damage if adjusted LTM EPS was needed for all.
