How long to hear back after Super Day?
Curious as to the general waiting period after completing a super day. Any experience or insight would be appreciated.

usually same day. Otherwise by end of next day. After that you've been waitlisted
I heard back about 2 hours after mine
Confirmed - The two offers I got were within 4 hours of interview completion and the group that took a week to get back waitlisted me.
Mind I ask which firm the waitlist was with? And to clarify you got off the waitlist correct?
Never got off the waitlist because I got an offer with another group in the same bank that I preferred, so I accepted that. Sorry - hope that helps.
Do people generally get notified right away if they are rejected? Or do they just not hear back usually?
I'd say if you don't hear back from someone that is formally putting you on the waitlist within a week MAX, then that is your rejection right there...
This is purely anecdotal but a friend recently had a super day with a top BB and didn't hear back until TWO WEEKS later... and she got the offer!
How long should you wait after a superday before emailing the HR? (Originally Posted: 12/07/2016)
Hey guys... I am really nervous right now: I come from a target school, but don't have a fit resume for S&T. I applied to GS S&T as secondary choice and they gave me a first round video interview on Hirevue. And then I was notified of a final round. I interviewed with 3 ppl (1MD) in the final round.
I interviewed on Monday and it is Wednesday night I still haven't got any update from them. Should I email the HR asking about my status? I am literally checking my email/phone every 5mins...
Definitely not - they're thinking about it or held up for a reason
Also it's pretty common practice to let successful applicants know very soon, and wait a while to let the rejects know, this is because someone might decline an offer
What is the waiting time after the final round for off-cycle PE? (Originally Posted: 06/16/2016)
I know the turnaround is within the day for superday PE interview. Any idea for off-cycle recruiting?
It can be all over the place...that same day or up to 4+ weeks if they are bringing in a set of other candidates to compare...
Is this your first in person interview with them? Off cycle tends to be less structured, so there is less urgency and that can delay things a lot.
Good luck! Patrick
Thanks Patrick. It was my last round, but I believe that I was the first to finish the process (they booked me on the 1st day a senior member of the team was back from travel in the last round). They told me that they are still evaluating other candidates and asked if I have any urgent situation. Fingers cross.... Side note, what does company say if you actually are in an urgent situation?
Timeframe from final round to decision (lateral/off-cycle at BB) (Originally Posted: 11/10/2017)
Hi guys,
Exactly a week ago, I interviewed with a BB bank for a lateral/off-cycle position. From HR screening to first round and final round (not a superday structure), they all took place last week, leading to me thinking they were really interested. As I had not heard back from them mid-week, I emailed HR for a status update or time-frame and they got back to me saying that the team is still working to make a decision and hope to let me know by next week, and that they will reach out with an update as soon as HR is informed.
Typically and based on your experience, does this suggest I am most-likely wait-listed? At least HR got back to me I guess... Do you recommend reaching out mid-next week if I do not hear back by then?
Thank you very much
waitlist / it happened only last week and they might be busy with shit
Typical Turnaround Time Post-Final Round (Originally Posted: 03/30/2011)

I had a final round early last week, thought it went extremely well, send thank you's shortly thereafter, received responses back and told I'd expect to hear within a few days as they needed to circle up internally, followed up on Monday after not hearing, received an answer that they'd be back to me ASAP...
Still haven't heard anything. I feel like if they were planning on dinging me, they would have just told me already instead of dragging it out. I'd like to remain optimistic since they're being so responsive and I thought the interviews went well, but what's taking so long? Perhaps I'm an alternate...I don't know.
Is it common for MM firms to wait 1+ week to hand out offers?
dont get discouraged just yet--if you followed up and they didnt ding you, it means youre still in the running! theyd have no reason to tell you theyd get back to you if you were already dinged. worst case scenario i would say you are on hold, but i think they would have also let you know by know if you were on hold...they could still just be deciding.
if it makes you feel any better, i had my final round in the beginning of February, and i received my offer in early March(for SA)!
dont lost hope just yet!
did you send a follow up email, or just waited it out until march?
waiting to hear back from final round EB (Originally Posted: 04/28/2017)
Hi, I had my final round super day for one the top EBs a couple weeks ago and they said they will get back to us within a week the very latest.. but I still haven't heard anything. I stayed in touch with everyone from the final round and some received offers the very same day or within a few days and others have been rejected already... but I haven't heard anything. In fact, I am the only one from the final round that hasn't heard anything, all other candidates have either been rejected or accepted.
I thought it went really well, the only thing which I guess that possibly could be seen as negative was at the end of my last interview, when they asked if I had any questions and I said something along the lines of "no, I have none at this time but it was great speaking with you" (this was because by this interview I already had 6 interviews where I asked pretty much everything possible and didn't want to repeat any questions I had already asked).
What are everyone's thoughts? Should I expect a rejection considering they've already made offers, have they forgot about me considering everyone's received their rejections/offers apart from me? Should I email politely asking for an update?
Thanks
bump
You could be a secondary choice if some offers are not accepted, hence why they did not deny you like some other people. This has happened to me after a super day, maybe you will get a decision after the two week or so window they give to the candidates they went forward with.
The fact that you haven't heard back after a week should've been a huge red flag to move on from them. I suggest you stop worrying about whether you'll hear back or not, and apply to everywhere and anywhere now.
I went through many similar sentiments this past recruitment cycle, constantly waiting to hear back for an offer or even a "No" from HR. It really does suck that you'll hear back from HR after a month just for them to say "Sorry..." And by then, you've wasted all that opportunity cost in interviewing elsewhere.
Waiting on final round outcome - HR still in touch? (Originally Posted: 12/05/2017)
Been waiting on a final round decision for about 5 weeks now. Reached out to HR about an offer that I have. She basically said that she'll ask the team make a decision but it's unlikely since the team is waiting on a trip to Europe in two weeks. I feel like something must be stopping them from pulling the trigger on yes or no for some reason. HR could have easily said that I was out of the running but she stressed that I'm still being considered.
My question is what's going on here.. I struggle to believe that they have not made a decision yet. I'm down to the final 3 candidates and they were very quick to move through the process before.. From my correspondence, it seems like this is an unanticipated delay as my interviewer said that the team would be in touch in a few days and HR moved the goalposts from a few days week - another week - two more weeks - two more weeks.. It's a completely new role so I'm not sure if this is contributing to the delay. I really don't think it's a case of them keeping me warm whilst they continue to interview, since the process ran on for so long (I had to interview 9 times)
Just assume you didn't get the position so you stop thinking about it. Perhaps they offered it to the other person and they're still waiting for his/her response but still have a couple weeks to offer it to you. There are alot of scenarios but you worrying or thinking about what could be happening won't help you.
Wait out your other offer as long as possible so that hopefully they respond by then if not, just sign with your other offer seems like a no brainer.
You're probably on a waitlist
There's only one spot on offer and it's for an experienced hire role.. It's a top firm, so I can't really imagine them giving someone 4-5 weeks to accept an offer..
Theres two outcomes here, neither one good
(1) you didn't get it
(2) they're still deciding and you should rarely want to work for an org that takes that long to decide.
It's time to move on
I guess you're right.
The chance to work at a megafund would do wonders for my career though
Response time after offcycle superday (Originally Posted: 11/18/2016)
My buddy went to an offcycle superday today, IBD group, MM, 5 candidates for one spot, not NYC... He was very confident in his performance but I told him if he didn't get an offer within 3 hrs of leaving he was probably out of the running... do you guys agree with this? Am I wrong?
Why would you tell him that if you don't know?
Btw, is your username referenced to the gum, drink, or Nebraska football? That gum was awesome.
For Friday superdays, you usually hear back either that very day or the following Monday.
Is this a no-name MM or are many notable banks still recruiting for SA positions?
How soon after final rounds should I expect to hear (Originally Posted: 11/06/2007)
If and when one receives an offer- does the bank typically tell you the complete package over the phone or does that come weeks later?
My experience and that of my colleagues has been that they tell you all pertinent information over the phone. Usually you'll hear back the day of your second round or shortly after. If you haven't been contacted within a week, you're on hold.
I appreciate it
anyone?
Never heard of a complete offer described over the telephone. You are usually called with an offer for the position you have applied for. I suggest a response from you something like-'Thank you. That is great news. I will need to look over the contract offer before giving any definitive answer.'
Full contract and paperwork is fed expressed to you overnight.
You should look at benefits, vesting periods, termination clauses, etc. Never heard this discussed over a phone call.,
^^^pretty much what sol said.
Here's how mine worked out -
One of the MDs that interviewed me called me over the phone to let me know I had an offer. He also let me know the salary and expected bonus levels, as well as sign-on bonus. I then received the offer letter in writing via FedEx a day or two later.
The above was at a boutique firm - it worked the same when I got my Wachovia offer, except that instead of an MD, it was an HR lady.
they're normally pretty quick. a few days at most
.
basically get called within a day or two. pertinent details, such as sign-on bonus and salary level are sometimes expressed, sometimes not. they usually overnight the offer letter to you anyways with all the pertinent detail in it.

can be same day or even 10 days from my experience
Yeah, I'd say getting an offer within the same day to 2 days is usually the norm, but I've also seen people receive offers 1-2 weeks later.

After Superday (Originally Posted: 11/04/2016)
Does anyone know how long it takes for BX Real Estate Asset Management to reply with offers after superday for summer analyst positions. I was told 1-2 days by HR, but in my experience if you don't hear back the day of the superday or the next day you didn't get the offer Wondering if this is the case for BX.
Don't know about BX but other super days I have been to its same or next day or you didn't get it.
RE firms are different than typical IB super days. Just sit tight. If you hear from them in 1-2 days, great and let us know. If not, follow up and see what's going on. I'd give a 1 week window in your case. Worst case scenario, you should be able to get some feedback from them. If you can land a BX interview, you should be able to get into a great firm.
Thanks for the response garbageman. Will update the thread when I find out what happened.
Did you hear back?
I interviewed a week ago and haven't had any follow-up.
BB is still silent one week after superday - hopeless? (Originally Posted: 10/10/2017)
Hey guys, I had a superday with a smaller group at a BB last week and I haven't heard anything since then other than some brief responses to follow up emails. Am I screwed or could they still be making decisions? Not really sure what could be holding them up because only about 20 people interviewed and they were only looking to hire a handful of people.
I'm on the same page.... are you talking about MS GCM by any chance
Did they give you a timeframe of when they would follow up?
Probably still making decisions and seeing if the first batch of people they extended offers to have accepted or not.
what was your outcome? I am waiting on a response from a superday I had right before the holidays
They turned me down.
Absolutely hopeless.

Thanks
be patient and wait
Thanks will try to...
its random, don't read too much into anything. good luck.
@yelloweat Thanks, just curious as people already received offers from the superday (will try to chill)
Definitely not random. Generally, offers go out right away (within 24hrs max). If you didn't get a call, best case is that you're waitlisted, and worst case is you're out.
@propchop, how do i get off the wait list (if that is the case), also if I am rejected why not tell me immediately (I heard back more than 1 week after my first round to get superday invite)

Wait between superday and offer (Originally Posted: 10/04/2011)
Sorry guys in advance I know this topic has been beaten to death, but I wanted to get your thoughts...
I just had a superday Friday 9/30 and although HR said they would not give out offers until about a week after (they have multiple superdays) should I take their word? There seems to be no one formula for when one should expect an offer? Analysts at the firm said anything from a few days to a week and half after in their own experience.
What do you guys think?
in my experience it was about 4 hours if you were their top choice, with days increasing as others decline. analysts could be different though.
Final round wait time for decision (Originally Posted: 06/03/2013)
Hi all,
Long time lurker on this site.
Currently work at a small boutique in SF and had an interview with a BB (SF office) for a lateral analyst position and made it through the final round. Was told I would hear back after the interview (which was roughly 2 weeks ago) however haven't heard back. Does no response indicate I was dinged?
.
Probably...usually they'll call you within a few days.
I know for laterals they may be waiting on responses from other candidates (that were chosen before you) so don't give up hope quite yet if they haven't given you a definitive no.
Probably yes. The other option is that you were good but not enough and they are assessing other people before making a decision. You should write to the person who is in charge of the process and ask for your status.
Best of luck.
Final Round Long Wait time (Originally Posted: 04/01/2010)
So I had a final round for a fulltime position in GS/MS/JPM (one of the three) last week and i thought it went well. I talked to 8 people in the team in London, and 2 people in New York. This week I emailed the MD, who is the head of the team I applied to, and he told me that they still have to see a few people. So for a few weeks they will not make a decision. Is this normal practice for times like this when they know that you are not interviewing another company ? What are some strategies? I was maybe the first guy they talked to. I am afraid it's going to be hard for me to get the job since they will pretty much forget about me after talking to the other guys.
Just keeping checking up with HR and reiterating your interest. Other than that there is not much you can do but wait.
