How Bad This I Mess This one up...

Just had an interview for a research associate spot (thought it was going to be junior associate but it ended up being the real deal full fledged associate) from 2 analysts, the ceo and md...

First of all I don't know about some of your interviews but i;ve never had a 4 on 1 before (no pun intended)

Anyways long story short, i didn't get this interview from traditional info sessions or applying on a company website, simply through hitting the pavement and networking... was asked some typical questions but they weren't amazed with my answers. biggest area of concern for them was the fact that i have had limited coursework that relates to modelling in ER...

Really don't know what to think, never been grilled so hard. MD and ceo only sat in for about 10 minutes before having to run off to deal with "other things". Don't know what to think? Am I canned from this opportunity or do I still have hope?

My suggestion would be to email the one person who set up the interview and get feedback on your performance...(send the email tomorrow post 4pm/evening)

so the premise of this interview lies in a cold call that I did last september which turned into an informational interview with the CEO. Back then the ceo told me he may have something for me in regards to a junior associate position and he really admired my tenacity. Anyways, couldn;t get a hold of him for the longest time and as the new year approached i decided to drop him a line since it was a while since we last spoke. he put me in touch with his MD and thats how this interview was born

I would defiantly say that we got along in the interview, at the end of the interview with the two analysts we spent a solid 5-10 minutes just talking about unrelated interview things and they did say that we now "know" each other, so feel free to get in touch with me via the phone but the person who will be making the decision on this matter is the md (who didn;t ask me any questions, just sat in for a little bit to hear my answers, specifically when i was pitching a stock)

Questions asked... Walk me through a three statement dcf model which wasn;t answered as well as it should of been. Explain to me what multiples you'd look for in a constant growth company versus a hyper growth company, explain to me how to calculate EV/EBITDA and what does it mean and a boat load of other technical questions.

My only area of concern other than getting dinged on the technical questions and lack of modelling skills due to coming from a top liberal arts school is that the MD who i thought i was going to meet solely, came in introduced himself, sat in for a little bit and left shortly "due to having to attend to other matters"

is that a bit more insightful to analyze the current situation?
