ipod during work?

I'm doing my internship at a BB in london in an M&A execution team, how do people feel about working with an ipod?

when your doing long models or working late at night i reckon have your ipod could be quite nice but is it frowned upon by others?

appreciate any insight

outside normal hours i wouldnt mind so much, just make a comment that it helps you work, or it can look like you're just bored and pushing keys while pulling hours.

At an internship though, you arent there for long, risk vs reward, risk is you push someones buttons the wrong way, reward is you get a few tunes in your ears cos your conversation blows :) T

this is generally common but i personally am against it because it looks unprofessional and gives off the impression that you're a recluse. it's obviously okay if you listen to music for a little bit during meals, but i know people who keep their headphones on all day which is ridiculous.

otherwise, agreed with HPM -- as an intern, you don't wanna be "that" guy.

90% of analysts use Pandora, ipods, etc. - just use any/all at the appropriate times, and as usual with questions on this forum, common sense > creating another useless forum topic.
