Michigan Kids
Anyone know how this kid got Citi IBD as a sophomore?
Philip H.
"Philip is a sophomore in the Ross School of Business studying Finance and Accounting. This summer, Philip will be joining Citigroup in their investment banking division. He previously worked for ISI Group, Ed Hyman’s economic research firm based in New York City, and Aksia LLC, a hedge fund research and advisory firm also based in New York City. Upon graduation, Philip hopes to pursue a career in investment banking and eventually private equity."
Citi has their Sophomore Rotational Program.
I've seen sophomore kids (Michigan Ross) getting into MS IBD, Citi IBD and etc.
doesnt citi have a soph rotational? i know they did for 2010 class.
I thought the rotational prgm rotates through S&T, IBD, research, etc? Is UMich well represented in the sophomore programs?
Not that surprising. Michigan is a great school. Ross undergrad routinely sends students to BB firms. One guy who graduated from there in 2004 worked at goldman and perry capital before going to HBS and landed a gig at Paulson Co. straight out of his MBA program.
I know several kids from several schools who had internships with boutiques and BBs as sophomores
It's a function of being smart, doing well in school, knowing you want to do IB as a freshman (or even a senior in high school), and planning it out.
is that a MII kid? i'll be at their competition this weekend.
SS,
Is the point of your post the fact that this upsets the pecking order of "targetness" that exists inside your head?
jjc1122, I know exactly who you're talking about. He was definitely at the top of his class, so people like him should have no problems at all. If you're a top student at Ross, you'll have a great shot at many of the top recruiters, including MBB, BB banks, Blackstone restructuring, Chicago prop trading, and most elite boutiques (no PWP, but almost everyone else recruits there). I know some kids who interviewed with Citadel too. It's just the AVERAGE student that struggles to land the top interviews/offers since interview closed-lists are relatively small and the GPA distribution is pretty tight. Still, it's not unheard of for even the average students to land some decent offers, at least F500. Ross is a top program (but certainly not Wharton).
Metalasian, just google it and you'll see that he's an analyst at Michigan Interactive Investments.
The guy really isn't worthy of the glory to be posted on WSO. He has IBD at a lower tier bank and he's a sophomore. Among the sophomores who are doing F500, he's pretty good. Among the cream of Michigan, those who did BB as HS senior and freshmen, I'd say he's a failure.
I know someone going to PWP this summer from Ross who simply applied through their website
If true, his resume must be insane.
lol @ "the glory to be posted on wso" - that was a joke, right?
WSO = world lmao
WSO = financiers wannabes' life.
Bet Philip is reading this right now.
Actually, no, cuz he just need some contacts in PWP to forward his resume.
^ Why don't we get some michigan guys up here and provide some details on the kid's social skills?
True, I know some ppl who are not only good at career but also socially. But many of the times, these kids turn out to be socially awkward. My remarks might be a little unjustified.
