New @Mention Feature - Updated
So after over 1 month in development, we have finally released an update to our @mention feature live. In the version before, you had to:
1. type out the full username, spell it properly, etc
2. remember to put " " around the username if there was a space in it
In the latest version:
1. After the first 3 letters, a pop-up will appear and allow you to select the user you are trying to mention (it also smartly ranks the users in this pop-up by # of bananas so the most popular users show up first)
2. It doesnt matter if the user has spaces or not, the mention will be inserted properly into the body of the post...
This should work across all new forum topics, blog posts, comments and replies...if not, please let me know..
I'm sure there might be some bugs left, but would love your feedback!
Thanks,
Patrick
@"Edmundo Braverman", this should make your Monday @Mentions easier :-)
check it out @"AndyLouis"
It says "Permission Denied" when I try any name.
I concur with @yeahright
@"yeahright", fixed now? @"Cruncharoo"? having issues with the reply button on comments...not sure if related...
@"WallStreetOasis.com" works fine for me, regardless of the 9 people or less thing. This feature is bad ass.
Yes @"WallStreetOasis.com" it works now, only thing to note is the names DO NOT show up until what you typed applies to 9 people or less. Until then you can see the white container but it is empty.
Awesome feature!
really? i type @wall and get a list of 9 (there are MANY more than 9 users that have this start)...the list is limited to 9 (for now) since it ranks the users by userpoints... and I don't think people will be trying to mention someone past the 9th ranked person that all have the same first 3 letters. "wal" is probably the best example of that...
we can easily expand this to ~15 or so, but I think we shoudl only do that if people cant find people they are looking for once they try it out... thoughts?
You are correct, my mistake. It wasn't loading before until I typed four or more letters. If I give it a second and be patient it shows up with three letters. Thanks for mentioning the part about the userpoints, that's a smart way to do it.
I will say that I also just got a message for me mentioning myself when I quoted above. @"WallStreetOasis.com"
question - is there somewhere I can go to read through a list of all the different features in the forum? For example, what does the little blue plus sign by people's names do? I just clicked on it and don't know what it did...
