Non-Target, so you know I need HELP
Hi guys, I'm a first time poster just wondering if I can have WSO wreck on my resume as you guys are so good at doing. I already have an unpaid internship for this summer (currently a sophomore) but I'm hoping to start networking with bankers in the city so I want my resume prepared beforehand (to hopefully show them). I want to try and get an IB summer gig for after junior year so all feedback would be helpful !
EDIT: Took everyone's advice and also converted to WSO format
only a sophomore here, but I think your resume looks great! I also intern at a search fund, its a very unique experience.
I've only done remote work (mainly grunt work but some interesting work) so far because of school, but I'll be in the office during the summer hoping to get some valuable experience.
How did u get that cool experiences
Literally got lucky. They posted online (not at my school) and I went through two rounds of interviews and they gave me a part time position. Just grinded from there and they offered me full time for the summer just last week
would try getting it into the WSO format... http://www.wallstreetoasis.com/forums/wso-investment-banking-resume-tem…
overall pretty solid content to work with :-)
Solid content. Pretty nice for a non-target too.
The content is solid, but the layout could use a lot of work. Try a different font; this one is pretty painful.
From there: 1) Remove the space under your headings ("Education," "Work/Leadership Experience,") etc. That's a few wasted lines already. However, can gain a bit of space by making your spacing between jobs a font-size or two smaller (so, if you're using TNR 12, your spacing between "SQL Servers, leading to the deal being killed" and the next experience would be with a size 8 or 10 font).
2) Your headings are inverted. Education/company and location on top, degree/role and dates on bottom, like this:
MIT WSO won't show---> Cambridge, MA BS, Computer Science Expected May 2015
UBS WSO won't show--> New York, NY Summer Analyst, Financial Institutions Group May 2012 - August 2012
Make sure your name/role and dates/location align.
3) Don't bold your bachelor's, and change the education date from "September 2012 to present" to Expected May 201X.
Combine your GPAs into one line, e.g.: Cumulative GPA (bold this part): 4.0/4.0 (don't bold/italicize/etc this part), Major GPA: 4.0/4.0
4) In your interests section, make the indentation on the second line align with the bolded "Interests" word.
Thanks ! Made those changes after transforming it to the WSO format and it looks better
Excellent! PM me if you need more help with it.
