Offering 1% of my income for HF mentor

I am a junior entering a IBD position at a BB.

I am looking for a mentor in the HF industry to chat in person on a bi-weekly basis for 1:30 minutes. Someone interested in investing some time into a young, aspiring money manager.

In return, I am offering 1% of my gross yearly income for the next 5 years.

Please PM me with your credentials.

I know that you have good intentions with this financial arrangement, but some people might find this as a turn off (the real guys already make enough money and they don't need that) and you might become a sucker for a few (who want to take advantage of you).

Personal advice, just drop the financial arrangement. No matter how you look at it, it is wrong. Try to come off as personable, intelligent and ambitious (underdog story, see Rocky) enough in explaining your story that people are willing to go to the bat for you.

Emotion is the most powerful currency and use it wisely. Good luck.

"I am the hero of the story. I don't need to be saved."

so assuming you make $75k after tax you're going to pay $750 for 26 hours of consulting? That's $29 per hour, not enough for a steak dinner.

And if you get fired, 1% of nothing is still nothing.

No thanks.

OP's offer of 1% is insulting. If you are seriously about compensating a high-caliber mentor, you may want to up your ante and offer say, 20% of your total incomes. Then you might actually get some good responses.

Too late for second-guessing Too late to go back to sleep.

I'll mentor ya man. Only thing is I request 50% of your income so I can have a conrolling interest in your life. Credentials:

  • Unemployed
  • Completely unknowledgable of how to successfully get a job
  • Completely knowledgable of how to unsuccessfully get a job
  • Once won my high school's paper trading competition because I was the first to realize a glitch where the game wouldn't recognize after-hour trading movements until the market re-opened.
  • Have read books before... even some on finance, so yea thats cool

That's enough for now, lemme know
