RUTGERS

A lot more kids made it to front office out of there than people realize. There's also a small but very hard core student group there that's very well connected. It's relatively inexpensive if you're in state.

  • The MBA program is getting stronger, but still not comparable to NYU or one of those
  • If you live in NYC/LI go to Queens, as the price difference + commute + proximity to the city offset the gains

Um no. Queens (It pains me to say) is a much higher quality education and the hiring is infinitely better, probably even to the US.

Can you elaborate on how living in NYC/Long Island is going to be beneficial when commuting to Canada? I know I know, NYC is like 20 miles north of New Brunswick but is it really that big of a difference when you're going to Ontario?

Under my tutelage, you will grow from boys to men. From men into gladiators. And from gladiators into SWANSONS.

Thanks for your replies, though it looks like you guys are pretty evenly split!

I live in NY so I suppose Rutgers isn't too far & relatively cheap. On the other hand, I'm a Canadian citizen, so the tuitions are pretty much the same.

I'm not sure if I want to major in accounting (for a CPA) or finance (for IB/PE/ER), so I'd like to hear your views on each of the schools for those majors.

MewtwoI live in NY
If this is the case, you're probably better off at Queens - the proximity of class to living space can only help. Look through the broader CUNY network for alums in finance, as this will help too. You can also transfer out after a year or two to a college more suited to OCR recruiting.....

MAJOR LOL

Accounting gives me the heebie-jeebies. I vote for finance @ RU, although I think we're about to see Rutgers ads on the NYC subways very soon. The rule of thumb for me is: if your school is being advertised on the 6 train, next to the liposuction and plastic surgery ads, you probably don't want to be attending that.

"A Rutgers BBA changed Jose's life. He used to have a dead-end job stocking shelves at Duane Reade. He is now a successful businessman, working for a large bank in Manhattan. Don't wait, enroll now!"

^ Um, no. The only NYC bank that recruits there is Goldman, and that too only in good years. It didn't recruit any in 2009 iirc. Toronto placement is decent, but lol who the hell wants to work there.

Haha have you met the students there? Half can't even speak English. And the other half are, well, just average. There are about 10-15 kids in a class of 400 at QC that are kind of Ivy-level. They do end up making it. But the rest are more representative of the program.
