To all the single bankers

I can't find the article but I read once that there are more instances of divorce and infidelity among couples with at least one member in high-finance. Just wondering everyones thoughts on this or stories.

What is the saying? Your only as faithful as your options? Working in a high paying career AND being married, Spanish fly 10x.

This is not characteristic of working in high finance, its characteristic of how much money you make.

The same characteristic probably holds true for all men in a BSD banker's income bracket.

Although, I'd say BSD bankers typically have more swag than a well accomplished cardiologist or dentist with a 14 clinic practice.... so maybe its a personality thing too.

Dude, don't you watch Law and Order? All bankers have cheating wives that get killed in peculiar circumstances that could lead back to them...

If I had asked people what they wanted, they would have said faster horses - Henry Ford

Most BSD's go for low-maintenance good girls, who can cook and take care of the home. School teachers, art gallery types, commercial buyers girly girl.

Those girls get boring after a while, and unless they are a total freak (inviting other girls in, new outfits 2-3 times a week) etc..in the bedroom. The BSD is going to find fun elsewhere. Just too many hot young things that want to party on BSD's dime or have an offer price for any "service" wanted.

You do not want to marry the crazy freaky girl, because she could be a psycho or not raise a good home. Better to go with the housewife and hope you never get caught. Or like Tee and Carmella just try to come to some "unspoken agreement" just don't bang the 1 leg cuzin.

I don't even see why a banker would bother until later in life, say 35 / 40. Honestly, I'm new to NYC and it's like being a kid in a candy shop.....why the hell am I going to spoil that??

Bankers have swag? lmao.... that is some of the douchiest shit posted on this site in a while. I don't think Lloyd Blankfein is fighting off many wannabe models. Many whores like money.... finance tends to have many people with a lot of money.... it is a pretty simple phenomenon.

I'd say its a mixed bag.

I'm not talking about your run of the mill MD... I'm talking about the BSD, well known on Wall Street, one of the best in the business. And all of these guys are typical alpha males... and we're talking about bankers, not traders... which have completely different personality traits that make them successful. So not sure what Lloyd has to do with this conversation. Not everyone that works at an investment bank is an investment banker. Lloyd is a CEO, previously he was a trader.

I'm sure your experience at Wells Fargo gives you a different perspective.

If anything, the trader is going to slay more because they make more money and have more alpha personalities, if you want to get into random worthless stereotypes.

Most people here have just a baffling impression of these "BSDs." Most of the top guys on Wall St. were major nerds in high school and college. The few MDs that are slaying hot chicks could get them regardless of their job, just as with anybody who is confident, attractive, and doing something with their lives. Plus, I must say that many of the chicks I've seen banker kids going crazy over were just anorexic NYU girls that wear expensive clothes and a lot of make-up... not exactly all that hot. I'd say its a mixed bag.

..sorry to burst them bubbles, but any semi-decent musician slays exponentially more than any top banker.

this, the main reward of finance is money, not bitches.

If women werent retarded and hadnt moved away in their tastes from what evolution had in mind for them(I mean its amazing how within a few hundred years women successfully ruined 2million years of evolution) then finance might be good for slaying bitches, but its nawt.

Id still rather have a private jet than be poor and play an instrument but hey.

Evidently Sports Stars are the worst when it comes to cheating, It's a given. But I'm not surprised that the high rate of divorce among Bankers. Alpha personalties and long hours are a bad mix in a marriage. Pretty much one or if not both parties will end up cheating and will want to seek a divorce.

If anything, I think its the stress and lack of family time. Between Christmas and new years, when I got a solid week off, its amazing what a different person I was after a few days off and being able to leave the blackberry on my night stand. I was so much more relaxed, patient, etc. and spending time with the woman and my family was so nice.

Money doesn't help, as one or both will have the resources to actually go through with the resources. I knew two couples who never actually filed because they couldn't afford to. They lived in different houses, but kept each other's benefits and all that. I think even just the sheer variability of the job adds stress. Getting in in the morning and not knowing if I am going to leave at 6:30 or 11:30 sucks. I would LOVE to just be able to walk out at a set time and have a routine, even if it meant leaving at 9:00 every night.

And honestly, I think a wealthy lifestyle leads to whiny people who don't appreciate what they have. I dated some wealthier girls in the past, and the shit that would set them off and ruin their day was so trivial I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.

im not sure where this alpha male banker stereotype comes from - ive seen/known a few, but honestly, look at your analyst classes all the way up to MDs - do you really see those guys who are actually smooth? successful yes, and can negotiate deals, but most of the bankers i know are modest, and in some cases a bit socially inept

my MDs were definitely not the suave types, and the analyst class was all pretty down to earth. also - if youre counting the clowns who blow their bonus on bottle service or trying to get into boom boom as alpha males, that is laughable haha

not trying to hate, but when i entered banking i was surprised since i expected everyone to be successful tucker max's

leveredarbalpha males are too busy getting laid to actually achieve excellence in anything. At the top of any given field I very much doubt you find alot if any alpha males.

They have the secretary blowing them while they work - just because they can

I am also intrigued how there are so many people lying to themselfs and denying the fact that women are attracted to monies.

In fact I am appalled that people criticize women for being attracted to men with alot of money, since that is what they are evolutionary primed to do.

We should really be criticizing women attracted to mediocre artists/musicians/performers of any kind as this is technically speaking going against human nature.

to negate the flames I will also say that I am merely playing devils advocate and would never want to date a golddigger myself, so all poor people on this forum can chill and dont need to start flaming me. Thank you.

Mediocre artists/performers make money too - Thomas kinkade, mr. Britney spears, etc etc

Argonaut Mediocre artists/performers make money too - Thomas kinkade, mr. Britney spears, etc etc

Ummm... supposedly 1 in 20 american homes has Thomas Kinkade in it. He makes about $6 million / year. I'd barely call that mediocre.

Mr. Britney Spears (I'm assuming you're talking about Kevin Federline), doesn't make money because he's a musician, he makes money because he's Mr. Britney Spears.

The median income of a musicians/artists is likely not even livable.
