Tom Brady Railroaded by the NFL
Open discussion for fellow NFL fans.
The court denied his appeal earlier on Wednesday and his only chance now is having his case heard by the Supreme Court. With no Peyton or Brady, it seems like the season will feel A LOT different for the first 4 weeks. How does he get suspended for something he "might" have done and the vikings get a slap on the wrist for being caught red-handed for tampering with the ball?
When you destroy evidence in the name of "I am 100% innocent and know nothing of what's going on" then shit happens. He's not getting heard at the Supreme Court for sure. There is NO WAY IN HELL those guys working the equipment room are screwing around with those footballs without precise instructions from Brady. Honestly I feel they all do it, thus why Manning and company lobbied for having the game day setups are like they are.
The only folks that the opening of the season will feel A LOT different to are Patriots fans.
Not if you're running for president.
Brady is certainly popular and likely has some good pull but nobody wields the power/corruption levels of the Clintons.
ZING!
Nothing is more annoying in the NFL than Patriots fans whining about persecution
Amen to that.
AllPlayersMatter
Doesn't change the fact that he's still the best quarterback and human being of all time.
It's a shame that Goodell and the NFL would do something like this to one of it's biggest names in the sport. Completely dragged it through the mud because some of the owners were whiny about the Patriots always "cheating".
Everytime Deflategate gets brought up I feel the need to repeat some facts;
ESPN misreported that 11 of 12 footballs were underinflated when in fact it was only 1 or 2.
In an earlier game that season (Pats vs. Jets in November), it was found that the refs overinflated the footballs 3 PSI over the maximum. Just to show how little impact overinflation/underinflation has on the game and how minor it is treated even by own officials.
Both teams provide their own footballs, and it is an expectation that they are altered in some way to the QB's liking.
Pats beat the Colts by over 30 points in the game where the football was slightly underinflated
I'm not even going to bring up the gas laws and the physics that goes against the NFL's claims.
What I think happened is Tom Brady asked his staff to let air out of the footballs as that is his (rightful) preference. This was probably done via text which is why he destroyed his phone.
Should Brady be punished for destroying evidence? Yes, but something like a fine is appropriate, or even a 1 game suspension max. But to fine the pats $1M+ take away their first round pick+ suspend Brady 25% of the regular season. That is just beyond ridiculous and this needs to be talked about more.
Thank you. I have a hard time understanding how incompetent a large portion of America is that they'd rather ignore these FACTS for the sake of blindly slapping the "cheaters" label on the Patriots yet again.
To add to what you mentioned, I've been told by a Colts player who is a family friend that there was already a plan to complain about the PSI prior to the game. The crybaby Ravens had given them a call in the week leading up to the game suggesting it.
That is correct. The only reason the Colts even brought it up is because the Ravens had tipped them off prior to that this is something to bring up.
Another thing people get wrong is they think Roger Goodell has something against the Pats/Tom Brady, when he is really just acting on behalf of the owners. It's not Roger Goodell that is the crux of the issue, it's the way the system is run. The Patriots organization has been run with a sense of arrogance under the ownership of Kraft and coaching of Belichick. Other owners have been calling for their head for a long time and this deflategate led to the owners pretty much telling Goodell to lay down the hammer or it will be his head. Goodell and Kraft were actually good friends prior to this all going down.
tears
when i think football, i still think "why didn't we run the ball?"
-a sad seahawks fan :-(
Man if that play worked Carroll would be regarded as a genius. Everyone expected the run, I think at the time it was the right decision to throw and to run that play. It's a hard play to get an interception on unless the defense is precise which luckily for the Pats it was.
Know the feeling... Manningham and tyree catches were devastating. Not to mention Welker dropping the most important pass of his career.
At least he's finally getting laid. Might help loosen him up like Manziel.

Time for Jimmy G to shine. I bet Gisele will be watching closely. Tom better watch out
Just an insane over-punishment and over reach of authority of epic proportions. If Goodell has proven anything, it is that he is incapable of standing up to the other owners that hate the Patriots and/or handling ANY major disciplinary action without lying and/or completely botching the outcome.

you forgot spygate, which team was that? oh yeah.. the patriots ;-)
yeah, some facts on Spygate: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/1061258-fired-up-setting-the-record-…
Funny how FACTUALLY INACCURATE stories from "reputable" news sources that were proven later to be 100% FALSE were published in early days of BOTH "scandals"...but let's not let facts get in the way of trying to tarnish the greatest fun of superiority in any sport since the Celtics in the 50s & 60s :-)
He's guiding them to hefty ass profits though while essentially serving as a boogyman to take the heat off them. I don't think many owners are that upset with Goodell
To the Patriots fans: With all the superbowls and the ~16 year dynasty, have you guys become so entitled that you cannot take an once of pain?? It's a 4 game suspension for 1 player for god's sake! I don't want to get into the minutia of the cas,e but it's pretty clear there was some nefarious action taken by the Pat's organization. Take the suspension and stop complaining, it's a bad look.
Disclaimer: I'm a huge diehard Eagles fan. We have zero superbowls and we don't complain about the league. Actually, based upon a recent Emory study:

The Eagles are the big surprise on the list. The Eagles are also a good example of how the analysis works. Most fan rankings are based on subjective judgments and lack controls for short-term winning rates. This latter point is a critical shortcoming. It’s easy to be supportive of a winning team. While Eagles fans might not be happy they are supportive in the face of mediocrity. Last year the Eagles struggled on the field but fans still paid premium prices and filled the stadium.
Best part of this thread, the butt hurt patriots fans. Go ahead and throw the monkey shit, proves I'm right.
