UCLA Anderson MBA - IBD recruitment?
Does anyone have any familiarity with the MBA program at UCLA Anderson? What is the investment banking recruiting like out of the program? Do top BBs recruit associates for their West Coast offices from UCLA, or is it more regionals? Do they recruit more for LA or SF? How is the name recognition in NYC and on Wall Street?
About 11% of the class (~35) goes into investment banking (CorpFin/M&A) and all BBs recruit on-campus for summers/FT. BB/MM banks split into about 70%/30% of all hires. Offers tend to be 25-35% NYC, 10% overseas, with the rest split between LA/SF. LA and SF tend to trade off who takes more from year to year. Opportunities are good in both areas for Anderson MBAs. While name recognition is stronger on West Coast, NYC alumni are definitely supportive during recruiting/DOJ. I received offers from both West Coast and NYC.
old thread but, i know first hand that UCLA MBA program places very well, same banks/firms as the undergrad receives for OCR
all BBs in LA/SF w/potential for NY, all MM in LA/many SF and many of the elite boutiques (ex- Moelis, Lazard etc.)
what about for private banking, product management (pimco) etc other investment asset managey type roles
wtf short. u r thinking about mba again???? i thot i could meet u sometime later this year in south america
Anderson has very good BB and MM IB recruiting for west coast and a couple of NYC BB offices too (BAML and Barclays i think?). Definitely punches above its ranking; for finance its one of the better schools outside of the top handful of schools.
lol im still here im in sao paulo still for a few more months
applied to kellogg booth columbia and then tuck haas anderson yale and stern via consortium
Rookie here with a noob question.
For associate roles, do BBs only consider people with prior IB experience?
Nope, but it may help.
UCLA Anderson MBA - Target or semi-target? (Originally Posted: 04/07/2007)
Is UCLA Anderson a target, or even a semi-target for MBA grads? If so, is it mostly for West Coast offices, or do the New York guys recruit here too?
Also, in general, is it very possible to get into non-Ivy MBA programs without the requisite 4-5 years of experience that they preach? How possible would it be with 2-3 years in Consulting?
I am also curious about this.

People with all sorts of backgrounds and years of work experience are able to get accepted to Anderson. Definitely if you have significant IB or consulting experience, I think that would qualify for acceptance.

Hey everyone,
Can anyone give me some insight into investment management recruiting at UCLA? It seems like a really awesome program, a great investment management program (student investment fund), and I've heard of at least a few investment managers that recruit there (PIMCO). If not investment management, how about equity research recruiting? Thanks in advance.
Former analyst at my firm landed an internship with PIMCO and also had interviews with Capital Group and a few HFs
