What should I do if I miss a recruiter call?
I was in class and had my phone on silent, when I walked out I noticed I had a missed call. I don't have caller ID so I can't check who called, but I am pretty sure it was a recruiter since my friends text me instead of calling,
should I do anything about it? Should I send some emails and follow up or mention it? More importantly, will they forget me or move on in the process?
Can you not even see the number? If you can see the number, just call them back and ask who it is. If you can't see the number, I suggest you upgrade your phone/plan... In a pinch, if you call your service provider they might be able to tell you what the number that called you was.
Whenever I've gotten called by a recruiter it was just from a "212" number, just those three digits, not the rest of the number. I have an iphone
No voicemail?
I have a pretty shitty/basic plan so I can't do much of anything you guys talk about. Nothing shows up, it just says I had a missed call and tells me what time it was at. I tried setting up/accessing my voice mail and it didn't work..
am I fucked?
if no voicemail, it wasnt a recruiter bruh
just checked, I don't have voice mail on my cellphone.
NOW am i fucked?
why would you not have voicemail on your phone? do you expect people to just call you back? think it is pretty common to have a professional sounding vmail recording throughout recruiting.
You live in 2011 and have no caller id?
Not much I can do about the voice mail thing now, its already done, I'll take it into consideration for the future though.
Do recruiters typically call back?
so i assume your sporting a zach morris phone? no voicemail, no caller ID,
They will probably try to call back, but if you are 100% sure doesn't hurt to send an email saying you missed the call and would like to set up a time to talk. Should take care of it.
You don't have caller ID or voicemail? Are you using Gordon Gecko's phone from the first movie???
troll? no one owns a phone that doesn't have either caller ID or voice mail
Wow, simply wow....
^ Some basic phone plans restrict those features.
OP, if you're planning to work in finance, why in fucks name did you not subscribe for caller ID and voice mail for at least a few months?
Let me try to understand you have an iPhone, and you don't have your voicemail set up? or the "recruiter" didn't leave a voicemail? This is makes no sense.
You fail.
This is like putting $3K worth of rims on a 98 corola.... ..
it happens more times than not in the hood.
....exactly
Dude, you totally fucking deserve it. Who doesn't have VM or caller ID in this day & age?
DING! AUTO FUCKING DING!!!!
sounds like a troll. didn't someone make this same post like a month ago? at least that guy had v-mail.
Best Buy has your phone on sale.....
He has the phone from A night at the Roxbury
alright, thanks for the help guys...
anyway, I live in canada and both voice mail and caller ID is extra. It costs an extra 15 bucks a month to add both of these to your phone. Since my friends usually text me I didn't think it was the worst decision in the world. clearly I was wrong, but theres not much I can do about that now.
is there any way to salvage this?
Switch to Bell or Fido. Rogers is a ripoff.
Wow, things are barbaric in Canada.
Ahh, this all makes perfect sense now... you are Canadian...
Canada? Sorry bro.
I wish I had some SB's to give! I'm laughing my ass off right now!

I've had recruiters follow up after the first or second interview to inquire about my citizenship status, my location preferences, or if I would be open to other types of roles. I hate to say it, but you may need to make time to answer the phone if she calls back.

I feel like WSO has great resources for future bankers/consultants/whatever but sometimes it makes people paranoid and forget about common sense. What's the point of analyzing a freakin voicemail. Call back, leave a message, email, follow up, or whatever. No one can possibly predict what this voicemail was about. Most likely good news because they wanted you to call back but you would have already figured that out on your own if you weren't so paranoid.
Yeah I agree with the above, I mean just call them back and find out, no need to post this very specific thread.
But to your question I would say this is a good sign. HR typically is not allowed to give out pass/fail info over voicemail. If the firm is not interested, HR typically wont call you at all or return your calls/emails.
Hi all,
I am interviewing with a company. The interviewer looked at me and said hi. Is this bad? I dressed very formal, so I expected a formal greeting. Should he have said hello? Please tell me what he meant.

I can't trust anyone who uses prima facie on an online forum.

Someone sounds salty.
