What should I do if I miss a recruiter call?

I was in class and had my phone on silent, when I walked out I noticed I had a missed call. I don't have caller ID so I can't check who called, but I am pretty sure it was a recruiter since my friends text me instead of calling,

should I do anything about it? Should I send some emails and follow up or mention it? More importantly, will they forget me or move on in the process?

Can you not even see the number? If you can see the number, just call them back and ask who it is. If you can't see the number, I suggest you upgrade your phone/plan... In a pinch, if you call your service provider they might be able to tell you what the number that called you was.

I have a pretty shitty/basic plan so I can't do much of anything you guys talk about. Nothing shows up, it just says I had a missed call and tells me what time it was at. I tried setting up/accessing my voice mail and it didn't work..

am I fucked?

so i assume your sporting a zach morris phone? no voicemail, no caller ID,

You give me a gift? *BAM* Thank you note! You invite me somewhere? *POW* RSVP! You do me a favor? *WHAM* Favor returned! Do not test my politeness.

They will probably try to call back, but if you are 100% sure doesn't hurt to send an email saying you missed the call and would like to set up a time to talk. Should take care of it.

^ Some basic phone plans restrict those features.

OP, if you're planning to work in finance, why in fucks name did you not subscribe for caller ID and voice mail for at least a few months?

I win here, I win there...

Let me try to understand you have an iPhone, and you don't have your voicemail set up? or the "recruiter" didn't leave a voicemail? This is makes no sense.

You fail.

The answer to your question is 1) network 2) get involved 3) beef up your resume 4) repeat -happypantsmcgee WSO is not your personal search function.

HFFBALLfan123This is like putting $3K worth of rims on a 98 corola.... ..

alright, thanks for the help guys...

anyway, I live in canada and both voice mail and caller ID is extra. It costs an extra 15 bucks a month to add both of these to your phone. Since my friends usually text me I didn't think it was the worst decision in the world. clearly I was wrong, but theres not much I can do about that now.

is there any way to salvage this?

I feel like WSO has great resources for future bankers/consultants/whatever but sometimes it makes people paranoid and forget about common sense. What's the point of analyzing a freakin voicemail. Call back, leave a message, email, follow up, or whatever. No one can possibly predict what this voicemail was about. Most likely good news because they wanted you to call back but you would have already figured that out on your own if you weren't so paranoid.

I can't trust anyone who uses prima facie on an online forum.

UTDFinanceGuy, I am surprised you would trust anyone completely on an online forum at all. It must be comforting that you have a way to selectively decide who is deemed trustworthy by eliminating those utilising 'prima facie'. I am happy to have made it easy for you in this respect. I am also sure you are entirely trustworthy, hence your lack of utilisation of 'prima facie'.

Someone sounds salty.
Is the reason for over-paralysis high level anxiety? Cause you come off as detrimentally anxious individual. Tough to overcome in a career on Wall Street or anything high stress.
