Hedge Fund Fight Night

What requires a sturdy head, quick-thinking skills, and a never-back-down attitude? Working in a high pressure financial job ........and boxing. In Hong Kong there is a charity event that pits financial professionals against each other in a series of bouts for charity. It is no joke and volunteers do some serious training:

The 14 finalists trained at Jab Mixed Martial Arts Studio in the heart of the business district twice a week for five months. In addition to the sessions of sparring, punching bag work, crunches and rope-skipping, most trained four to five times a week, and in some cases twice a day. The finalists were culled from 70 hopefuls and were paired off for seven bouts of three two-minute rounds each.

Would you ever participate in this event? What would be your dream financial boxing match-up?

RIP Emanuel Steward

I would totally lace up the gloves to fight James Gorman. He's 10 years older than me but in (probably much) better shape, and I hear he loves to box. That's my dream Wall Street bout. Not that I bear him any ill will or want to kick his ass, just that he's the only Wall Street CEO who knows his way around the ring.

I'm confident my boss could make it to the final four. And other than Halvorsen I think he'd contend with the rest of the HF world... nobody touches the king viking though.

Kovner vs. Soros.....

Or maybe a bracket of PTJ, Moore, Kovner, and Soros.....There can be only one!

"Greed, in all of its forms; greed for life, for money, for love, for knowledge has marked the upward surge of mankind. And greed, you mark my words, will not only save Teldar Paper, but that other malfunctioning corporation called the USA."

Babyj18777I would absolutely LOVE to go a few rounds with Eddie..

Sadly you wouldn't make it out of round 1 Mr Braverman.

Kid, I've probably stepped over bigger and tougher guys than you on my way to a fight, lol.

I've seen you use that phrase many times Mr. Braverman, however my boxing and thai boxing fight records beg to differ.

I'm hoping to make my way to France summer 2013, if I do what do you think about a little competitive sparring? We'll call it "WSO Showdown" and broadcast it live as an NSFW episode.

Someone who's both a boxer and a muay Thai practitioner would probably know their fight records don't mean much in an actual fight... Someone who's both a boxer and a muay Thai practitioner would also probably not have a username like "Babyj18777" ...but I'm just speculating

Someone needs to coordinate this to happen in the states. I used to box in my undergrad. You would be surprised of the comaraderie that developes, even if you get your ass handed to you.
