Would it be SA or FT?
Say FT
IMHO, it adds massive value. ALM is where the rubber meets the road, so to speak. Meaningful experience in treasury ALM exposes you to the actual nuts and bolts of the operation. If you are able to use that understanding and knowledge properly, you're a real asset. I would hire an ambitious treasury guy over pretty much anyone else, with no hesitation.
My Z$2c...
Hire for what kind of position? Like say I would like to in the future (or asap) get into global macro trading, I understand that the knowledge of rates (and possibly FX) you get at treasury might be very useful but is in seen that way from the outside too? Thanks!

Exit Opportunities: S&T, Risk, Asset Management, Treasury Services, Investor Services (Originally Posted: 12/20/2014)
Hello! I'm new to finance and am trying to learn as much as possible, so please be patient. :)
Based on the little knowledge I have, I am interested in pursuing an internship in one of those fields. I'm a junior at a non-target, so I know my chances are slim. But it would still be useful to know which opportunities exist for analysts in S&T, risk, Asset Management, treasury services, and investor services.
Can anyone help? Thanks! :)
There are opportunities for all of the fields which you had mentioned.

Sorry for doing that, when I was new here, this is exactly what was done to me!!
I'll bump this for you again due to the million edits to old posts pushing it down.
BB - Corporate Treasury, Prime Services, portfolio management - hours, bonus, exit opps etc (Originally Posted: 06/08/2013)
These are S&T-like functions that are sometimes housed within S&T at banks, but I know they have some important structural differences (with regular S&T as well between each other).
Any insights onto the hours, bonuses and exit opps between them? I know they're not all the same (I believe Prime Brokerage has fairly long hours). I also imagine that something like Corporate Treasury or Portfolio Management could have fairly strong exit options. Risk Management at JPM was one of the top-compensated groups post-crisis (so I heard) - any other cases of mid-office-ish roles with big bonuses?
lol
Job market is still fucked, if you can get a good treasury job at a solid firm I'd lock it up.
bump again. I took the offer and now try to get CFA. Is it a good track?
