Boutiques in Paris?
Hey, I was wondering if any of you knew any boutique/MM ibanks in paris ? I've tried looking it up on google and don't seem to find much...
And I'll be there on exchange do you think I have a shot at a part time/interning gig if I cold-email a few weeks in advance?
Thanks!
hows yr french?? u need to be almost native and be from a well known US school....
interned at jpm paris
Do applications also need to be made in French?
french is a must....and also the appearance of a true frenchman i.e polite, eating frogs etc
I recently applied for an internship at a small mid pe fund and the HR asked me to apply again in French and not in English...
You really need to speak French in here especially in MM banks or boutique (more local deals => French required)
I am perfectly fluent in French... but come from McGill. :s do you think I still have a shot? That's kind of why I was aiming for something part-time/boutique-ish baiscally so I have something interesting to put up on my CV when the recruitment for summer internships starts.
very improbable, like i said french needs to be perfect and with chic of a parisian and quebecians are laughed upon in France (sorry, but it is true)
however, exceptions always happen..i managed to find internship with a boutique w/o knowing a word of french and u have a better chance than me.
good luck
It's true. The difference between a Quebecois accent and a Parisian accent is like the difference between a British accent and an American accent. Of course, Parisians are a bit more snobby than Englishmen.
Yeah I heard about that hahah... I was kinda hoping to leverage the fact I can speak english without an accent. I still contacted a few groups through LinkedIn... we'll see!

its interesting how everyone insists on that one needs to speak fluent french. I know only basic stuff and was considered for positions at Lazard and Messier Partners (both Paris). It didn't seem as if my lack of language skills was a big issue, but maybe it kicked me out. I don't know.
^^well there you go. thanks for answering your own question. [grantland.com: humblebrag]
yeah I guess so ;)
^^^fair is fair. sb
But honestly its more 'clubby' than even the UK as far as IB goes (my opinion and with minor interaction with french based bankers).
-btw quebecois french is an atrocity. its like a drunkard bum in nyc. sounds like shit
have to agree that the quebecois accent is awful lol
It offends me they even claim it's French.
lol...ce ne pas possible!!!
