where's home? how far is too far? thanksgivings pretty important to me haha
B but taking off to a friend's thanksgiving last minute
2nd year analyst, been at work since 9am this morning, pretty annoying
I'm at C right now. However, I've been working remotely since 7:30 this morning. I'll be flying back Sunday morning.
I would not be able to focus. Btw what do you do remotely? Just the same stuff but from your home PC, eg modeling and pitchbooks?
Rotting on my couch at my parents, watching football and getting ready to eat.
C and loving it, though I am still tied to my BlackBerry for now. First actual break since I started work, and first time I've actually slept in since college. Forgot how amazing sleep was.
man i really hope i can go home for thanksgiving next year even if its just for a night.
A
C: 1st year at a NYC middle market, home is on the West Coast, will likely work from home tomorrow but nothing extreme. Took off yesterday and flying back to the city on Sunday. People were in for a couple hours Wednesday and almost nobody shows up Friday after Thanksgiving.
Office! and today too!
Who's working on thanksgiving? (Originally Posted: 11/26/2009)

Was given a pitch the day before thanksgiving and have to finish by coming Monday.
I almost had a call today. We're working with Canadian investment bank on a deal and they don't celebrate T-day.... it'll probably occur this Fri.
Finally, a day off.

Anybody else stuck in the office today?
Gotta love a Seamless turkey dinner.
Remoting in for now.
Christmas id be pissed about, but is Thanksgiving even a real holiday?
Woke up to 46 emails from the London team this morning. Nevertheless, Happy Thanksgiving everybody!
I haven't been in the office all week and the only message I'v gotten from work today is my boss wishing me a happy thanksgiving.
Do people work during Thanksgiving weekend? (Originally Posted: 11/06/2009)
I've heard mixed comments on this. Traders don't work, right? What about people in corporate finance/IB?
if by corporate finance u mean working at GE or IBM, then no.
in IB, if people are busy, then yes.
Sometimes people work in the morning and make it in time for dinner.
i once worked through all of thanksgiving day and was able to take the following three days off (fri, sat, sun)
I was called in at 2pm on thanksgiving, while I had family in town. I went in for 2 hours and luckily was then sent home as the deal ended up getting delayed.
The problem isn't being called in on holidays, its not knowing if you will be.
trading.. no, markets are closed ibanking.. 90% chance yes, its the culture
I worked from 6am until 4pm on Thanksgiving Day as a first year.
And Xmas eve for that matter
Do bears shit in the woods?
Not the Bernstein Bears. Who are jewish.
Banking / PE yes.
Trading / back office no.

Do the poor bankers get to have a vacation on Thanksgiving?
Just getting some lube.
I went home for a total of 48 hours my first thanksgiving and 48 hours my first Christmas. As a second year, I went home for four days for Thanksgiving and my xmas got torpedoed by a Vice President who sent me full revisions to our CIM on Christmas Eve with a turn expected the following Monday (the killer: we were writing the CIM early to show that we were dedicated to the deal -- we hadn't even done our internal due diligence yet).
I'm in PE now -- I'm taking five days for thanksgiving and 2.5 weeks for xmas.
Damn it feels good to be a gangsta.
I will be back home all weekend -- keeping my fingers crossed that this plan holds true.
2nd years are off, 1st years have to be on call
i'm off but "on call" for thanksgiving and the day after
1st year associate here, none of the 1st year associates in my class have made firm plans. I think most of us won't be in the office, but the culture in my group is just that 1st year associates don't get to block off the time.
Off weds night through Sunday.
Well traders at least have Thanksgiving day and half of Friday cause the markets are closed.
