Ah yes my good sir. There is a secret lodge that of which I cannot divulge on this here forum. All ye masons hail!
You think you're special because you're part of the Freemasons. Well, I'm part of the Illuminati. (/|/)
My Freemason brethren and I shall strike you down into the abyss! Thou shalt prepare for battle or perish.
If anyone is actually serious, feel free to pm me. Thanks,
Are you a mason too?
I am, are you? I will be visiting NYC in August and wish to attend a meeting and fellowship.
Really???
Freemasons - Good resume booster? (Originally Posted: 10/12/2012)
We've all heard about them, so what do they really do? Is it worth it to become one? Is the networking good? Good resume booster?
Trolled around the forums and didn't really see much constructive talk about if its worth it to become a free mason. Walk by a lodge everyday on my way to work and I am slightly curious
Ask a Mason....
It's a philanthropic group(for men) if philanthropy interests you then I would look into it. So I would think its resume booster, but do it for the right reasons.
Also you have to be religious to be invited to join. No atheists allowed.
Yeah i get all of that I was just hoping someone who knew a mason or was a mason could comment on the expierence.
Usually, being "religious" is up to your definition. You will be asked if you believe in a Supreme Being but will not be asked (and not rightful to ask in Masonic conduct!) which religion you are in. So even if you do not subscribe to a particular religion, if you believe a Supreme Being/God/Allah/Something, you can become a Mason.
On invitation: No, that is not true in the US. You have to ASK a Mason rather than wait for a Mason to come give you an invitation. The best way to explore for the curious to go visit a lodge (or many lodges, that's better for different lodges have different personalities) and see how the people are like there, and if you like it you can ask what you can do further. Whether they admit you or not is another question.
i only hang with scottish and templar folk... sorrrryu

Anyone here of the Scottish or Knights Templar rites? :>
lol, 33rd degree right here
I've considered joining but not just yet. Why do you ask?
Yes - these are additional degrees for people who are already Masons.
I see that you're in NYC, are you already a Freemason? If so, which Lodge?
I was brought in by a friend, but don't have the time. I'd like to begin sometime in the near future though.
