I am planning to apply to HBS 2+2 Program, for the Class of 2015. I haven't taken the GMAT yet, but got my Essays and Recs in order. Aiming for the 2nd Round with the Jan 7 deadline I believe.
750 GMAT / 3.9 UG GPA in a soft science from a target. Invited to interview R1.
730 GMAT/3.74 GPA/Yale/Invited to Interview R1

Admissions. Was on campus. Quality of other applicants was clearly very high.
Applied last year for 2+2...but for what it's worth:
730 GMAT / 3.7 at target / interview lasted ~15 mins, thought it was terrible, then accepted.

I also have a wharton interview next week. Pretty nervous about it since i don't know what to expect from this new format.
790 GMAT (don't know what happened), 3.999 GPA with a degree in Latin from a Sierra Leone target. I spent the last 2 years teaching for Communism. My parents died when I was 1 and have a vaginal lisp. My interview was in Pakistan at a local Indian joint, and I was delighted to learn that I could become the founding member of the Pagan club.
Chances?
It all depends on whether you can spin your story and show them that you really want to be there. An affiliation to blood diamonds in Sierra Leone may be favorable as well.

In general for anyone who has already applied: Who wrote your Recs? Not asking for specific names obv, just wondering what position etc.? Are they all work related or did you also ask Professors?
I had my immediate supervisor, an indirect supervisor, and one of my professional mentors write my recs.
I only had one finance related internship, so one of my letters came from here. I worked in the investment management department of a F100 shipping company, and I managed to develop a strong relationship with the senior finance team. Small team, so communication was fluid. My direct superior was a senior VP of finance. I tried to get one-on-one time with the CFO, but to no avail. Regardless, a rec letter from a SVP never hurts.
In addition, I asked a professor to recommend me. I made sure it was a professor who I had wowed, and did not have a 95% or lower in his courses.
I had profs write mine. One that I had TA'd for several times and one that I did research under.
How difficult did you guys find it to make sure that they write something that is coherent with the story you're telling?
Somewhat difficult. It was crucial to go into the internship, with the idea that you will use it as leverage. So at work, spin your story to your direct superior, make it known to them that you have great aspirations...without directly indicating you believe you are better than the internship.
If you're out of work, then communicating with the recommender never hurts. If you have a good relationship with him/her, then make an effort to spend some time with them, in addition to gently slipping in key phrases/ideas you want them to include in your recommendation.
^ To add to the above, I think this is why it's important to get recs from people who truly know you. I got both mine from professors that I had known since my freshman year. So when I applied I'd known them for ~3 years. They knew me, they knew my goals, they knew what internships I was doing and how they fit in, they even knew my family. So when I asked them for recs I just had a conversation with them and they were all set.
I know they ask for a direct supervisor to write your rec but I didn't get a rec from my internship boss and I explained (i think in the supplemental section or something) that in my opinion asking my boss at a job that i hadn't even started yet for a rec to business school was a career limiting move haha.

It's not. It's much much more important that they know you well and can speak highly of you using specific examples.

HBS admissions process is very transparent. There won't be any news until decisions are released on Dec 12th.
Not too much news from me. The interview went as expected - didn't knock it out of the park but didn't say anything damning either (I hope).
Just crossing my fingers until Dec 12th.
