I lied about my race... your thoughts?
Alright so I've interviewed with 2 boutique banks. During the interview I lied about my race. I'm only 1 ethnicity as my parents are from the same country, but I said one of my parents was a different race (european/whatever) to sound more... cultured? Just wanna know your thoughts lol. i'm not white btw..

I absolutely understand where you're coming from. One time, while at a farm (don't ask) around State College, a couple of locals starting throwing apples at me and saying "Welcome to America A-rab." I wasn't angry at the fact that they thought I was of Middle Eastern descent, I was angry at the fact that they were unable to keep their racism on the low.

It's for a firm here in Atlanta, they didn't ask but I mentioned it as I was giving my little commercial in the beginning of the interview. Thought it sounded nice?

Depends on how white you look, maybe you look totally asian/hispanic/nativeamerican or whatever. If you can pas for mixed then by all means go for it. Lying is an invaluable tool which you will need to utilize many times in your future, its best to perfect the art while you're still young.
Kind dumb and hilarious, but there's no way they'll ever find out. It's illegal for them to ask you about your race in an interview or perform any kind of investigation as to your heritage during a hiring process (for obvious reasons) so it's unlikely anyone will ever find out. Except now you have to remember the lie forever...

I've done that for inconsequential internship/program applications. It's never come up during an interview though
I've contemplated using that trick in the past but ended up not doing it. I think it's entirely silly to begin with. Your race shouldn't matter, but for some reason the government says otherwise.
