Job after Imperial College MSc Financial Engineering and Risk ManagementST
I got admitted to Imperial College MSc Financial Engineering and Risk Management programme for 2009/2010. I am having a hard time deciding whether to attend this program. The reason is that it is a pretty expensive degree and even with Imperial brand name job prospects in London seem pretty dim right now.
I have two years experience at a major IB in NY building pricing and risk applications on the IT side. My undergrad was in electrical engineering from a top 20 US school. Unfortunately I could not get myrenovated (I come from the middle east) and had to leave the job and the US.
I was attracted to the MSc at Imperial as a way to enhance my knowledge of finance and open a door into London (as an international student you can work for a year after graduating before needing a longer work permit). However, it would pretty much be a waste of money if I cant get a job.
I would place my preferences for a job post-grad in the following order: structuring, asset management, quant trader, risk manager, and lastly, developer.
What are my chances at getting the above jobs given the Imperial degree and the shitty job market?
