Midsized Texas HFs
I am looking for a list of mid sized Texas hedge funds, in particular I am interested in value oriented funds. Any recommendations would be great!

Do most texas funds focus on O&G/Energy? Does anyone know of funds that have a sizeable subset of their AUM dedicated to TMT or consumer? LS Equity.
I would say that a pretty small number of HF in The Dallas / Fort Worth area are pure energy funds. If you go to Houston you will probably find more of that.
Nokomis capital in Dallas does quite a bit of TMT.
Some other small to mid size funds include Precept capital, Anson funds, SRC capital, hirzel capital, and Becker Drapkin. Bigger funds include: Q investments, Carlson Capital, Maverick Capital, Kleinheinz, highside capital and HBK capital.
Looks like Highside is also pretty big on TMT. They made the top rankings: http://www.hedgetracker.com/article/Top-Technology-Media-Telecom-Hedge-…-TMT-Equities
Are most HFs in Dallas, Houston or split between the two? Always got the impression that Houston was solely energy focused and Dallas was more of the "finance center" for Texas.
Most HF's are in the Dallas area. I've heard of some energy funds and a currency fund in Houston, but most of the action is in Dallas. There aren't a lot of energy pure plays in town, contrary to what one may think. If you look at private equity, that's another story: quite a few energy-only funds.
surprising that there arent more in Houston vs. Dallas
