New WSO Header Design Version 2.0 - LIVE

Ok, so the next iteration of our new header on WSO is now live.

PLEASE CLEAR YOUR BROWSER CACHE TO SEE IT. We will also be sending a package that doesn't require you to clear your cache later today, but if you want to see/use it now and access your PMs, that is what you'll need to do.

Some highlights:

1. Cleaner overall design

2. Removed white nav/user bar that was at top of site as you scrolled (we will also be making the blue nav bar do this in future)

3. New monkey head icon: This icon represents where you will be able to access / view all of your profile information (when you hover over it)

4. New bell icon. Right now, the bell represents your PM box and will show small red #s on it when you have new unread messages...ideally we will be able to incorporate all notifications and/or at least allow you to see Inbox previews from that bell icon directly (for now it just serves as a link to your inbox and to let you know when you have a new message and how many).

5. If you haven't been to the site in a few weeks, you will notice the new Search icon in the upper right that slides out when you click on it, as well as no more bright social share icons...the social media pages are now all located in the drop-down called "Follow Us" and the information about WSO is located in the "i" drop down.

We have more improvements coming in the next month or so related to the "in reply to" tabs, but the majority of the changes that we were planning to make on the header are now done.

Appreciate your feedback / thoughts....it looks easy, but this took a lot of man hours to get right :-)

Thanks,
Patrick

Niiiice, I was starting to get annoyed with the white dropdown thing with all my account shiznit on it.

It looked fine at first, but now my stats are wrong. Says Senior Gorilla with 949 bananas and 7 credits when I hover over (trailmix8's account stats from what I can gather).

Edit: It switched back to normal after I posted this.

looking ok still?

Yeah I haven't seen the problem since.

ok, some more fixes to the header / menu just pushed live including the fact that the menu will now scroll with you so you don't need to scroll all the way back up to navigate.

sweetness, thanks! ya the scrolling was becoming a pain. Also Patrick, could you look into the search query thing? its still giving me errors if I search something, and then filter with like a year, and then changes the search to a completely random name

for search...ok, just did a test, searched for "Goldman", filtered by year just fine.

you should see a small box that says "retain filters" if you want to search again and keep the year filter on...are you saying after you filter by year it's changing your search query to something random?

That sounds like a caching issue (for some reason it's showing you another query)... Have you cleared the cache in your browser, restarted and tried?

Thanks, Patrick

Patrick,

Header is now looking good on the workstation computer unlike before, only the home icon is having an issue. It is currently just a white square. I can now access my profile though which is important.

You might just need to refresh your cache

culd also be a cross browser thing...some of the headers look odd in IE still with overlap and wrapping. We are working on cleaning that up cross browser today/tomorrow.

It's not a cache issue, I run two websites on the side so this is standard to check before I would post anything.

Looking at the code, most of the header is designed with javascript which is most likely the issue from either a cross-browser problem or just merely a bank policy blocking a particular script. It is still clickable, just not viewable.

Edit: Picture for reference

Edit2: Something in this code portion perhaps...

I've cleared the cache multiple times for the new content, unfortunately still having the problem. I've used Chrome, IE and Mozilla on multiple machines too (office & home), cleared the cache both places too:)

Did the search for "Goldman" filtered by year 2013 and it changed the search to "option strategy". If I filter by forums it does the same thing. Its weird, because the "retain filters check-box" only works on a NEW search, but not the original search (from the top right search magnifying glass).

Btw I searched "option strategy" too and it changed to "houston cost of living". If I search "houston cost of living" it stays the same after filters though.

Also I don't know if WSO is capable of having multiple filters (like most big sites - like Amazon), or if that's for future additions? not a main problem, just a suggestion. The above
