Waiting List for 2 months at BB? What's going on?
So I had a superday at a BB....after a week, MD emailed me saying that they didn't have enough information yet so sit tight.....week later, emails me again and says to let him know if i have any exploding offers....which i didn't at that time....still haven't had contact after that with the MD....side note....got in contact with the CEO of their ibd and he said he'd try to do something for me....that's been about 3 weeks now and no word....and the person who got me the superday in the first place emails me recently and says HR has filled their quota...does that mean a definite "no." recently received an offer in consulting and emailed both MD and the CEO to inform them of the offer and figure out what my status is....thoughts?
You emailed the MD and CEO of a bulge bracket bank to let them know you got an offer in another industry? Geez, you're an absolute winner ...
So the MD emailed me after I emailed HR asking them what was going on. I emailed the CEO.....He is alum so I figured why not....
Don't ever do that again. Seriously. Don't.
I half think you're trolling. The CEO? Jesus, don't you think they have more important things going on? Your e-mail to him is indicative that you don't understand you aren't worth his time. Half of the people who work for him really aren't even worth his time.
I hope I see this on Dealbreaker Monday morning...
I do not understand why this is so stupid. I would never let them know that I have an offer in another industry, but other than that I do not know what is wrong with that approach. If I had another IB offer, I probably would have done the same thing.
the CEO emailed me back after I emailed him. he also came on campus to accept an award a few weeks ago and I introduced myself to him in person. we chatted for a little bit and he told me to send him a follow up email....what's wrong with that?
and I didn't tell them the offer was in consulting. I just said with "another firm."
Enjoy consulting.
Curious to know what you guys think of offer from another "industry"... Is it okay if it's still within the finance industry? ie. if you got an offer from Commercial Banking or FP&A from a diff company, can you still let the IB firm know?
Or does it have to be strictly in the IB industry to consider it relevant?
I hope your consulting offer was from McKinsey cuz looks like you're not working in IB.
How are you a certified user if you don't have a job?
Sorry i did not have a PWM internship, it was in IBD.
i've had internships in banking and private equity..as well as corporate finance.
Nonetheless. Interning =/= certified. That simple.
On occasion you'll see people putting it up after their final SA and they sign to return. That makes more sense.

So I did superday about three months ago and was notified the next day I was on the waitlist. I didn't think anything would come of it, but its been three months and they still have not rejected me. Should I follow up with an interviewer and ask about it?
doesn't hurt...but you probably didn't get it. follow up.
Definitely follow up, they can't be mad about you wanting to know what exactly is going on, especially after 3 months.
unfortunately, you might have been dinged, but as suggested reach out to them.
btw what location is this for?
