I've used the following a few times:

My greatest achievement was demonstrating leadership and quick thinking among my peers in a time of critical situation. Our group, Pals for Life, had been hard at work detailing the approach to a severe problem that literally threatened our lives. I had missed the majority of the plan due to a prior commitment but displayed great poise, quick thinking, and sound analysis of the situation in confronting the problem head on. As a result, my abilities and practice have successfully spread into a global phenomenon.

Shit is weak guys. I came back hoping to find some exaggerated 10v1 fight stories, tales of tagging an entire sorority, earning 400k upon graduation, etc.

so disappointed

It's all about knowing WHEN to have stamina. It's key to be able to get off when you want to, especially when you're on a schedule.

Summiting Kilimanjaro is pretty cool. In general, you want to pick something that showcases skills that are important for the job. Anything that shows you're resilient (overcoming a major setback or serious adversity) or exceptionally talented (Olympic athlete or major award in something highly competitive or specialized) would be suitable.

Questions like why should we hire you, what is your greatest weakness, tell me about yourself can really throw people in an interview. For some ideas on how to answer these questions, check this link out - http://bit.ly/1iBQeV

Most things that probably look like achievements to others have just been good luck on my part.

Not being divorced yet is probably my biggest achievement.

Those who can, do. Those who can't, post threads about how to do it on WSO.

yep, mine is the same as a bunch of the other guys in here, proud i didn't knock up one of my war pigs by now (i have a ton of sex)

"war pigs"...so that's what you call them?

Not really an "accomplishment" per se, but the thing that I'm most proud of having done in my life was when I was able to stay calm enough to take control of a bad situation overseas and lead my buddies out of a mined area in Afghanistan while bleeding all over the place myself.

It wasn't a good day, and I don't feel like I did anything unusually heroic.....it was just chance that I was the highest ranking survivor......but the honest truth is that in spite of the survivor's guilt I take some pride in the fact that when I was tested it turned out that I had it what it took to step up to the plate.

The other thing I'm proud of is that I've got a fantastic, very open, very trusting, and very supportive marriage. Again it doesn't sound like much but it's a small minority of 20-somethings that have a relationship that functions this well.

Banged every type of race except Asian. I have yet to bang my first Asian girl (Asian as in Japanese, not Indian. I already boned an Indian chick. B*tch was a freak.).

Close to 600k first year out of college.

High kill count of chicks i met on WSO. Bwahaha.

Eat that, Tinder.

Rubbed a Latin girls clit through her leggings at a WSO happy hour while twenty twenty year old Asians stared me down giggling wildly .

On a more serious note I'd say its being the child of two teenage high school drop out parents yet getting a job trading from a non target and helping launch a startup I. An emerging economy thats backed from one of the biggest startup incubators now

Travel through Europe on your own..

Went to a little village in middle of no where to help..

Sky diving first time on day 1 with instructor, on your own the second day,

went to north pole for exploration...

oh, how about this one---you could tell the truth and actually say what you think your greatest achievement has been, which is what they're after anyway

If you haven't done what I had mentioned before, don't say you did..

It definitely has to be something you done but fun (not like, "I got all A's.. I am the best in my class.. .. blah.."

of course:)~ i just wanna know what among my experiences(national competitions or travelling alone in tibet etc.) will most impress employers

really appreciate ur opinions!Thx

I will go with Tibet as its something not many ppl done.. I am pretty sure a lot of qualified candidates has done national competitions..

You could put it like, "traveling to tibet alone, seeing it the culture, interacting with the locals was more fulfilling than when I won the nation competition.. this is the best feeling because blah blah.. "

Note.. above is IMO...

You're right there are controllables and uncontrollables. The market is (for the most part) uncontrollable, but SALES definitely are not. Sales will clearly be influenced by the market, but if a business is just sitting back and letting the market be the whole driver of sales, they're going to run into trouble.

Your examples are great, but judging by them you seem to be in Supply Chain/Operations. Your mentality on costs is perfect, but if you're ever looking to move into an executive position or out of Operations, you're going to want to expand your thinking on growth.

It's really not the ridiculous amounts you guys dropped above but I felt I could just add my contribution on that.

It was my freshman summer internship at a big italian semiconductor firm as an internal auditor. At first the assignement seemed boring AF and it was the only internship I could nail given the circumstances. I began going through all the freight billing processes and reviewing their evolution.

About a week later, by analyzing the records and confronting each supplier's invoicing data, it hits me : this firm had been misled on their freight costs for about a decade by a supplier cartel and obscure calculation methods.

We corrected everything and were able to file a lawsuit for more than €10MM with the help of other interns which they staffed to review the other worldwide locations. Great international teamwork by the way.

I know I got lucky on that one but it really was the first time I ever felt I made a difference at work !

"goddel5"

Also why were you able to achieve this and not others. Thanks!!!

I'm pretty interested in this as well OP.

Would you also mind telling us how much the parent company annually earns for us to get an idea of proportion? If you don't want to share, just give us a range (eg the company earns USD 200-250 M yearly).
