What's the best way to develop a charming personality for business and in life?
I've tried listening to some of those "Art of Charm" Podcasts in order to try to give myself an edge in networking opportunities. Do you have any other advice on Podcasts or lectures on this topic?
Be a well rounded person, do some intersting stuff. For example, you like to go Skydiving on the weekends, topic comes up in a conversation: "yeah, i go skydiving, have you ever been?" they haven't? "I am heading out there this weekend, you should come its fun....etc etc"
BOOM! you have a date... if you do it right.
Now for the real advice: Don't dwell in your own mind too much when interacting with others. Attempt to display genuine interest in the well being of other people. Act socially appropriate. The more experience you gain in social situations the easier it becomes. I have a friend with Aspergers, he used to be awkward but can be pretty charismatic nowadays.
I think you can't overlook the basics when it comes to communicating and interacting in your professional and social life.
Always make eye contact with the person your talking to, it shows your intentions are good and you are giving all your attention to the person in note
Don't talk over people when they are talking, pretty self explanatory. I hate it when people do it to me.
People love to talk about themselves, just ask them interesting appropriate questions for the context.
Just my $0.02 on social skills. Pretty basic but I have found these points helpful to remember
Whenever I read such (valid and great) advice I cannot help to imagine some clueless guy overdoing and coming across as a murderer...
OP, are you alright?
In order to properly become a well-rounded person I believe it all comes down to how much time you invest in yourself. Only through material experiences can you grow yourself and step outside of your comfort zone. Some of this happens over time, but you must be willing to take that initial step.
(misogyny+hubris)*alcohol = charm.
It's hard to imagine a more Aspergers-like approach to "developing a charming personality" than listening to a podcast or lecture on how to do so. Can't tell if this is a troll or not because both are equally likely on WSO.
I'm convinced that OP is a BuzzFeed "journalist" and that spamming these posts are ways to generate content.
It's bizarre, there have been like 2-3 different posters recently who do the same thing
Yeah, WSO is prob now hiring content spammers in India
It's really hurting the quality of the forum. These threads are just awful. I am shocked some of the posters take these seriously, but I guess I shouldn't be.
Or just the creator of the obscure podcast he mentioned
OP there's a difference between good weird and bad weird...it doesn't sound like you've figured out the difference
