Credit and Equity research

I am currently looking to apply for graduate positions in London and had a few questions I was hoping some of you could help me with.

- I wanted to know what the requirements (academic and internships) were for Credit and Equity research? I heard for Credit they look for people with quantitative backgrounds where as equity has more arts, is this really the case? Also considering the current state of the market in which of these two sectors would BB be recruiting more?

- I have a few doubts still regarding the sell and buy side analysts which has already been addressed in this forum but just to clarify if the offer says: “ Looking for equity analyst covering media” how do you know if its sell or buy? There is no mention in this offer about buy or sell so how can I know?

- Could you also give me some tips as to what to revise for an equity research interview? What do people mean when they say you should have stocks to pitch? You mean know certain companies well? What accounting technicals should I expect?
