Headhunters for Sales and Trading?

Disclaimer: I already tried the search function. Now...

I have heard a lot about headhunters contacting <a href="/finance-dictionary/what-is-investment-banking-division-IBD">IBD</a> analysts to try to fill Associate roles in PE. How does headhunting work for market makers at a <a href="/finance-dictionary/what-is-the-bulge-bracket-BB">BB</a> trying to move to a <a href="/finance-dictionary/what-is-a-hedge-fund-HF" rel="nofollow">HF</a>? If you could lend some insight that would be awesome. Thanks!

There are a ton of them, its not dissimilar from banking.

Jack: They’re all former investment bankers who were laid off from that economic crisis that Nancy Pelosi caused. They have zero real world skills, but God they work hard. -30 Rock

There is a huge difference befor a recruiter and a head hunter.

A head hunter finds you because you are a rainmaker.

Fair enough. Does anyone know of any recruiting agencies that are well regarded in S&T? In before google it.

They'll end up contacting you usually, but they don't only get in touch with senior people.

yea but a good head hunter will storm your village at night and cut your head off with a ceremonial knife...so idk how it works for S&T

They are flooded with resumes of experienced sales and traders and actually might filter you out in favor of a stronger candidate they know. Would recommend you network directly with key insiders at the banks/brokers.
