] that's always been the problem with this genre - takes 3 fucking minutes for a song to start. putting up with those intros (and outros) takes so much joy out of listening.

dogz, you aren't supposed to listen 2 da muzik u r supposed 2 feel it

i'm excited for this:

i love that there's so much more music stuff going on here than where i moved from. what sucks is i cant make any of the cool shit that goes on during the week and starts at like 11...

I am into mainstream trance (although trance isn't really mainstream in the US, especially compared to house and even DS) and some electro/house. The usual for trance: Armin, Gareth Emery, Markus Schulz, Sander Van Doorn, Above and Beyond. As for electro/house also into the mainstream players minus David Guetta. Been to EZ and went to Ultra this year which was amazing. Debating on EDC NY or EZ, Pacha usually has some big name DJs but also usually 19+ on most nights.

Speaking of Ultra, this kid (17) killed it this year:

I like your style. I listen to all of the trance producers you posted, plus more. My favorite producers of trance/house are: arty (favorite), alesso, mat zo Hardwell, Matisse and sadko, mord fustang, dada life, r3hab. There's more but won't list all.

I'll post some of my favorite tracks later.

You're spot on with Pacha, I love that place! Saw Arty there, and was prob one of the best night of my fockin life. Cannot wait for EDC NYC either.

Have you been to Cielo? Much smaller venue, I like it a lot better then Pacha but they usually don't pull the same level DJs as Pacha, but at least it is 21+.

Arty is siiiccccckkkk, heard awesome things about his live sets but have yet to see one. His Rebound track with Matt zo is one my favorite.

Been trying to find Madeon's set from Ultra with no luck.

The good/bad thing about EDM is that there soooooooooooooooo much out there, hard to keep track and follow everyone. Most DJs have weekly podcasts from 1 - 2 hours, you follow a handful of DJs and that's decent amount of hours but I guess that is a good problem to have.

Check this out. Dropped by Aly & Fila at ASOT 550

Madeon went huge with Icarus and I hope he continues putting out tunes that like. Been listening to that song non-stop since it dropped.

You guys have legit music taste.

I think we'd get along if we were slaving away together in IB.

This is the 3rd time i've seen you write something along the lines of "I think we'd get alone great"...are you that desperate?

Only saying what's up. #YOLO #nohate

^ Richie will probably get booked by Blkmkt or one of the other underground promoters.

Glancing through this "trance / prog thread", you guys really need to step away from commercialized junk.

If you want to see real trance in NYC, just go to anything Massive Event does. They're what Made used to be pre-2008 when Mike Bindra wasn't only seeing the $$$ in everything and you could spend 20 bucks on a great event.

If you also want some great stuff, check out Sullivan Room on May 11th (Guy J) or May 12th (Menno de Jong). If you appreciate music and haven't heard them before, you'll be amazed. Feel free to PM for further advice.

A couple others that are blowing up my playlist.

I saw Gareth Emery live at a local club a few days ago. I think he's going up to NYC in the next day or so. Definitely worth checking out if you can. He played just under a 3 hour set and it was really good.

Bassnectar at Red Rocks was fantastic until he kinda messed up on the ending, but that wasn't a big deal tbh

I've been looping the latest track (Oblivion - Outside the Box) for the past few days. Good mix of trance/dubstep (and my apologies if you don't appreciate dubstep):

this isnt quite the same but very similar:

Also dont forget Aly & Fila, Sebastian Brandt and John Van Deynhoven. Whats the unicorn slayer upto these days ? Above & Beyond were producing some good stuff back in the day. Now they are not doing anything noteworthy.

ASOT 600 NYC MAR 30!!!!!

Have the lineups being released yet ? JOC & A & F, JVD, SB plz. Those guys are the only remaining masters in Trance.

Don't think so but its one of the larger events that is being broadcasted so it should be huge. I don't see him releasing line ups til end of year at earliest. I saw JOC and A&F at the EZ after party and it was epppppiiicccc to say the least.

Monkeys, tomorrow its Danny Howells at Cielo. He is easily the best DJ I have ever seen. I have been 12 hour sets of his in Montreal which finish at 10 in the AM. Its just a journey from start to finish. If you miss out , you lose.

Most posted here aren't trance or progressive house they are mainly electro house and mainstream house. Go to tranceaddict forums or Trancefix which is the best. Many of finance kids hang around those forums. Further look for releases at juno /beatport/Digital-Tunes/TrackItDown. For electro house use livingelectro.

Tranceaddict is excellent to be up to date with the North American scene.

Or get the free underground releases here. http://www.minimalfreaks.com/blog/

This is not mainstream stuff. This is sophisticated minimal, house, techno music which the best underground Djs play.

Video sets from Ibiza, Germany and UK can be found here.
Resident Advisor 2012 DJ Rankings are out. I'm sure you monkeys won't recognize any of the DJ's here. Unlike DJ Mag, this is catered to the real house and techno (non-mainstream) only. But it gives you a good list of top talent to follow on soundcloud.

http://www.residentadvisor.net/feature.aspx?1700
I recognize Richie Hawtin (been a long-time fan) and Ricardo Villalobos.

Will check out the others who made it on the list. Apparently, I have quite a bit to catch up on, haha.

Ladies and Gentlemen. Let me present to you one of finest start to finish performances from the 'Granda of Techno', Sven Vath.

For those who don't know Sven, he has been in the scene since 1982 and has a god status in Europe.

This video set is reflection of perfection. No computers, no beat matching, just plain old school vinyl and starting from warm-up to finish.

Do not forward the set and let it just unravel from start to finish. Some songs will just grow into you.

ASOT NYC was great. W&W kinda pissed me off with such a prerecorded set but overall great stuff.

I did not think the sets were that good. In fact Morph, New World Punx were both shitty. AVB was clearly the best on the night. Excited for Den Bosch this week.
