What is the best financial modeling training program?
Can anyone recommend the most ideal financial modeling training course - (assuming it will be self-taught)? Without price being an issue - I am looking for a single program or a combination which will be the most practical and appreciated by the Bulge Brackets and Larger PE Shops who have analyst programs. Any advice would be appreciated.
Financial Modeling Training Courses I'm considering:

I purchased the premium WSP program, but have not gone through it yet - it was recommended so I went with it. Check out the training section on this site for more information on all of your options. They are all worthwhile from what I have read, but I've seen most people use either WSP or TTS for self-study programs.
If you end up going with WSP, make sure you go through WSO to save 15% (clicking any of the WSP buttons here: http://www.wallstreetoasis.com/financial-modeling-training will get you the discount)
how about the analyst exchange is that any good. sry for the noob question but when you send in a resume or interview with an investment bank, is it beneficial to tell them that you took the program, will they know what it is?
I have no experience with the analyst exchange, although I know a lot of people have used and recommend it.
I think it is worth mentioning that you have completed the program - somewhere at the bottom of the resume, maybe in the skills section. I can't imagine any investment bank not recognizing it, as they have become pretty common.
You can also check out some books instead if you don't want to spend the money - Benninga and Damodaran have great books.
Search for Damodaran's website at NYU - there are tons of resources for modeling there - presentations, tutorials/instructionals, models, etc..
I have purchased the WSP Premium Package and had no previous modeling experiance. I worked through both (financial and valuation modeling). It's a very good preperation for finance (ECM/M&A/PE)interviews. I could use my new skills at a finance interview in London and I got the job.

What would you recommend for self-study financial modeling training... Wall Street Prep premium package or deal maven/factset financial analysis knowledge base (both levels 1 and 2)?
If not these any recommendations are appreciated. looking to do a self-study program to keep cost at a minimum. Thanks.
Best bet would be to get a DCF model and just back it out and make it yourself. Cheapest way also.
I bought the BIWS financial modeling course. http://www.wallstreetoasis.com/learn-financial-modeling
I was really happy with the content and it was a lot cheaper than any of the other courses out there.
That actually brings up a good question, how does the BIWS online modeling course differ from the WSP and WST modeling courses? To those with experience with these, please elaborate on the differences and which prepare incoming analysts best for the modeling that they will do at a BB. How would you guys rank these three in terms of best to worst?
I also saw one on www.ibankingfaq.com for $49. Does anyone have insight to that one?
Yeah, M&I didn't help me that much when i interviewed. Doesnt cover enuf materials.

Financial Modeling Training: Self-Study Program (Originally Posted: 03/03/2010)
Wall Street Oasis has partnered with Wall Street Prep program to teach you everything you need to know about financial modeling, from how to use Excel to Accounting 101, to how to model and value companies, and how to create merger models and lbo models.
Check out the program here: http://www.wallstreetoasis.com/learn-financial-modeling
is there a deal if you purchase all three from breaking into?
what is the tax rate for mutual funds ?
Is there any other Models exists which can benefits in this specific training other than merger models and lbo models
Is the live seminar better than the self-study program.. I have thought about attending the live seminar but don't know if the money is worth spending on the live on compared to self.

I wanted to ask this about the modelling course:
I just got the Premium Package and am loving it. I'm learning a lot, not just Excel skills but also about mergers, valuation and LBOs.
What I want to know is how much additional content is there in the Oil and Gas and Advanced LBO modelling that isn't already covered off in the Premium package? I'm wondering whether they're worth investing into for the additional knowledge gained or if there's a lot of repeated material.

Fellow Monkeys - Just wondering what training courses you used to prep for your interview/job. WSO, WSP, M&I or something else. Just want a good unbiased eval as I prepare for a position. Thanks!
Did you search WSO? This was discussed a week or two ago. I like BIWS and WSP. Not a fan of TTS.
